The bed faces those incredible windows, so you literally wake up to the sea (though invest in an eye mask if you’re sensitive to light). The owner clearly gets what travelers need – there’s proper WiFi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, blackout curtains for when you want to sleep in, and the air conditioning actually works without sounding like a jet engine. Small thing, but the shower has proper water pressure, which isn’t always a given in older Croatian buildings.
The building itself has character without being run-down – you can tell it’s been recently renovated but they kept the original stone details. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, I’ll be honest, but there’s street parking nearby and the owner gave me clear instructions on where to find spots. The walk up from the street isn’t too steep, though I was grateful I didn’t pack my entire closet. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no waiting around a lobby, just quick keys and helpful local tips about where to buy the best olive oil and which restaurants to avoid (spoiler: most of the ones right on Stradun).
What sealed it for me was sitting on that little balcony around sunset with a glass of local wine, watching the ferry boats glide across the bay while the Old Town walls glowed golden in the distance.
