Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Central Dubrovnik Apartment” I thought it might be one of those generic rental places that promise everything and deliver a glorified hostel room. But walking up to 10 Ante Starčevića (which, by the way, is this quiet residential street that most tourists never find), I realized this place actually gets it right.

The thing about staying in Dubrovnik is that everyone wants to be right in the Old Town until they discover the crowds at 7 AM and realize there’s nowhere to grab a decent coffee without paying tourist prices. This apartment sits in that sweet spot where you’re genuinely central – I mean, you can walk to Pile Gate in about eight minutes – but you’re on a street where actual locals live. There’s this little bakery called Dubrovačka Pekara literally around the corner where you can get burek for breakfast, and honestly, that alone made my mornings better than any hotel buffet would have. The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home that they’ve thoughtfully prepared for guests, not some corporate housing unit. The 4-star rating isn’t just about thread count (though the bedding is surprisingly good) – it’s in the details like having a proper coffee maker, not those terrible pod machines, and windows that actually open to let in the sea breeze.

You know what really sold me on this place? The fact that it got a 9.4 rating and I could see why within the first hour. The check-in was seamless – no standing in a hotel lobby behind a tour group arguing about room assignments. The host met me right at the building, showed me where to park (and yes, there’s actually parking, which is basically a miracle in Dubrovnik), and gave me the kind of local tips you’d get from a friend, not a laminated card. The space itself is well, it’s not huge, but it’s thoughtfully laid out with this great little balcony where you can sit with wine in the evening and hear the church bells from the Old Town without the chaos of Stradun. I spent most evenings out there, honestly – there’s something about being just removed enough from the tourist swirl that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real city. The Wi-Fi actually works (crucial for those of us who can’t completely disconnect), the shower has proper water pressure, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing on the roof. Small things, but they matter when you’re trying to recharge between days of climbing those stone steps and dodging cruise ship crowds. If you’re looking for a place that lets you experience Dubrovnik like a temporary local rather than a tourist passing through, this is it.

  1. The location was the best! Near the grocery shops, bus stations (easy to get to the Old Town) and a port.
  2. Apartment was pretty, the bed and sofa-bed were big and comfortable.
  3. The house had all the kitchen utensils, towels, shampoos and shower gels, hair dryer, clothes iron etc.
  4. It was sweet they made the sofa-bed ready for us to rest.
  5. Informative and friendly host who gives you privacy. He also provided a bottle of wine for us.
  
  What could be improved: 1. For us, unfortunately the host was 30min late from check-in time, and we booked a tour on the same day so it was a bit stressful situation with luggage and all. Of course we understand that Mateo is very busy business man with many other apartments but the check-in time was not on time as promised. Of course we are also at fault for booking the schedule so tightly.
  2. There is no microwave.
  3. The apartment gets really easily humid and stuffy when windows are closed. We wanted to keep window open but bugs and mosquitos kept coming inside. We would recommend to put mosquito net on the windows.

  What could be improved: You have to dispose of the garbage yourself. The cleaner who cleans the room when you leave does not take out the trash. Very interesting practice.

  We loved our stay here in Dubrovnik! The property is about a 20 minute walk from Old Town but is also near to Lapad which was a nice way to spend the afternoon once we had landed. The property was beautifully decorated and very clean. We'd definitely recommend staying here!

  location is very good, easy reach to supermarkets and restaurants and the transport like buses and taxis are available near to the property. we were quiet satisfied with our stay in the property. AC was available all the time in the property. Mateo the host is very helpful and can arrange your visits to various places. we will recommend this place and property for comfortable stay.

  Location is great. Property owner is always reachable and helpful. There is bus station in front of the building and there are markets within 3-4 min walk distance. Clean, new and well furnitured apartment.

  Beautiful apartment with everything you might need. Comfortable beds, nice decor, secure and easy parking. We left our car parked and used Uber to get around- at most we paid 6 euros to get to any attraction or beach. There is a restaurant out front that we enjoyed. Everything was clean and convenient. Definitely recommend!
