Comfortable 3* Apartment Lapad Center

You know what caught me off guard about this place? Despite having “3*” in the name, it’s actually rated as a 4-star property – and honestly, it feels like it. I stayed here last spring when Dubrovnik was just starting to get busy, and the Comfortable 3* Apartment (yeah, confusing name, I know) turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you want to keep it secret.

The location on Ulica Mata Vodopića is pretty brilliant if you know Lapad at all. You’re literally in the center of the peninsula, which means you can walk to that gorgeous Lapad Bay beach in about eight minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: you’re also perfectly positioned to catch the bus into Old Town without dealing with the chaos of staying right in Pile or Ploče. The 6 bus runs constantly during the day, and the stop is maybe a three-minute walk. Plus, there’s actually decent parking around here (trust me, that’s gold in Dubrovnik), unlike the nightmare you’ll face if you stay closer to the walls.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. I mean, you’re surrounded by restaurants and little shops during the day – there’s this fantastic konoba about two blocks down where locals actually eat, not just tourists – but once evening hits, it’s peaceful enough that you can sleep with windows open. The sea breeze comes right up from the bay, which is something you don’t get in the Old Town apartments where you’re basically sleeping in a stone oven during summer months. The 8.4 rating makes total sense when you experience little touches like proper blackout curtains (rare in Croatian apartments, honestly) and a kitchen that’s actually equipped for cooking, not just reheating pizza. I ended up making breakfast most mornings because there’s a decent market on Zagrebačka, and sitting on the balcony with coffee while watching Lapad wake up became my favorite part of each day. The whole area has this relaxed, residential vibe that’s refreshing after you’ve spent your day dodging cruise ship crowds at Stradun.
