Hotel Description

You know what? I walked past these apartments probably a dozen times before I realized they were actually accommodations – and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re staying in Dubrovnik’s Old Town. The building on Zamanjina ulica just blends right into the ancient stone streetscape, which means you’re not in some obvious tourist trap but actually living like a local for a few days.

The location is sort of ridiculous in the best way possible. I mean, you’re literally within the city walls, surrounded by all that UNESCO World Heritage magic, but Zamanjina is one of those quieter side streets where you can actually hear yourself think. It’s maybe a three-minute walk to the main drag (Stradun), but far enough away that you won’t have cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at 7 AM. The morning light hitting those limestone walls outside your apartment – it’s something else, especially if you’re an early riser and catch the city before it fully wakes up. There’s this little bakery just around the corner that locals hit up for fresh bread, and the smell drifts through the narrow streets in the most amazing way.

What really got me about these apartments is how they manage to feel authentically Croatian without being stuffy or museum-like. The interiors have that lived-in charm – stone walls, wooden beams, but with modern touches that actually work. The kitchenettes are small but functional (perfect for storing those incredible Croatian wines you’ll inevitably buy), and the bathrooms are updated enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it. Some units have those tiny Juliet balconies overlooking the street, which honestly become your favorite spot for morning coffee or evening wine. Fair warning though – summer nights can get warm, and while there’s AC in most units, the old stone buildings take a while to cool down.

The owners clearly know their stuff when it comes to what travelers actually need. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no corporate nonsense, just helpful local knowledge about everything from restaurant recommendations to the best times to walk the city walls (early morning or late afternoon, trust me on this). They’ll also give you the real scoop on things like where to find decent parking if you’re driving (spoiler: park outside the walls and walk), and which local konobas serve the best peka without the tourist markup. The 8.1 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, but it’s genuine and comfortable, with that indefinable quality that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it. For three stars, you’re getting way more character and authenticity than you’d find in most chain hotels, plus you can walk to Buža Bar for sunset drinks in about five minutes. Sometimes that’s worth more than marble bathrooms and turndown service.

  • Debbie from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (8/10)

Great location. Fabulous host. comfortable would recommend.

  • Marie-josee from Canada – 26 March 2025 (8/10)

The location, the ambiance, the helpful host. One can find the greatest restaurants and pubs. The old town is magnificent.

What could be improved: Maybe a mention about the climbing of the stairs in the Old town when carrying luggage, especially when it rains. It’s a little tricky.

  • Barbara from United Kingdom – 25 March 2025 (8/10)

Perfect location although the bar below might be a bit noisy in peak season.

What could be improved: No separate shower. A plug for the bath would have been useful as the shower had to be hand held.

  • Seekingjules from United States – 26 February 2025 (9/10)

Location was perfect. Excellent communication with owner. Would definitely stay again.

  • Beth from United Kingdom – 3 February 2025 (8/10)

Really nice furnishings and located very close to the entrance of the old town. Room was nice and clean, easy to find.

What could be improved: The shower did not stay hot for too long.
The property is surrounded by stairs (not a property issue but something to bare in mind)

  • Ri from Australia – 1 February 2025 (9/10)

Location was perfect, and the room provided was exceptional

    What could be improved: N/A

  • Andrea from Czech Republic – 7 January 2025 (8/10)

Location is really good, just next to the main street

What could be improved: Tiny bathroom, but it’s not a big deal

  • Miłosz from Poland – 19 December 2024 (9/10)

the location was amazing, the room was great and clean, the communication with host was smooth, absolutely reccomend for a good experience when visiting Dubrovnik

What could be improved: it was a bit cold and the heater was a bit slow but nothing too worrying.

  • Roxanne from Belgium – 8 December 2024 (9/10)

Very well equipped (washing machine, dish washer, kitchen utensils…) and clean. Great location too. Only thing to note there was no toiletries (unlike what is stated) so bring your own.

  • John from Canada – 7 December 2024 (9/10)

Super location right in the heart of old town. Bed was comfortable and the shower was good with plenty of hot water. The code-lock door was convenient. Lots of good restaurants, bars and shops within a 5 minute walk. All in all, the room was worth what I paid for it.

What could be improved: I had the ground floor room. It could have been set up better with some shelves to put clothes and other items. There is a lot of unnecessary furniture that is not useful. It felt very hard to stay organized. The refrigerator is the smallest I've ever seen and tucked under a cabinet. The internet is very weak. Every morning at 5:50am, a guy rolls a garbage bin down the steep stairs outside and it sounds like a drum from a marching band… You'll won't like that guy.
