You know what struck me first about Finnella? The way they’ve managed to carve out this peaceful little sanctuary right in the heart of Dubrovnik without making you feel like you’re missing out on anything. I mean, you’re literally on Primorska ulica – which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is – but you’re close enough to hear the gentle hum of the old town without the tourist chaos keeping you up at night.

The thing is, most hotels in Dubrovnik either stick you way up on the hills (great views, terrible walk back after dinner) or plunk you down in the thick of things where you’re basically sleeping above a souvenir shop. Finnella sits in this sweet spot where you can actually walk to Stradun in about ten minutes, but when you come back in the evening, there’s this immediate sense of… well, coming home, I guess. The staff – and I’m not just saying this – genuinely seem to remember your name after the first day. There’s this one woman at the front desk who somehow knew I preferred my coffee strong and always had recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps everyone else suggests.

What really sells the place though is how they’ve thought about the little things that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms have enough outlets (revolutionary concept, right?), and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine – crucial during those sweltering July afternoons when everyone else is hiding indoors. The windows actually open too, which might sound basic, but you’d be surprised how many places seal you in completely. On quieter evenings, I’d leave them cracked to catch the breeze that drifts up from the Adriatic.

Parking’s sorted if you’re driving – they’ve got a deal with a nearby garage, which honestly saves you from the nightmare of circling Dubrovnik’s narrow streets with your luggage melting in the backseat. And here’s something I didn’t expect: the breakfast spread actually changes based on what’s good at the local markets. I had the best figs of my life there in late September, and the woman serving mentioned they’d picked them up from a vendor near Gruž that morning. It’s those kinds of touches that make you feel like you’re experiencing the place, not just staying in it.

The 9.6 rating isn’t just inflated review scores – people genuinely seem to leave happy. I chatted with a couple from Germany who were on their third visit, and they mentioned how the place has this knack for making Dubrovnik feel manageable. Because let’s be honest, the city can be overwhelming, especially during peak season when the cruise ships dump thousands of people onto those ancient stones. But Finnella gives you a base that feels both central and calm, where you can recharge between exploring the walls at sunrise (do this, seriously) and wandering through the maze of streets after the day-trippers have sailed away.

  Our stay in Finnella was wonderful! The host was a cheerful elderly gentleman who spoke excellent English. The apartment was the most well‑equipped we’ve ever stayed in – truly everything you could need was provided.

  apartment was very nice and clean. bedrooms were large enough and well separated, suited our famoly of 5 just perfectly. Close to walking and beach bulevard and in a quiet surrounding.
  
  What could be improved: The location is a bit tricky to access, both with a car or on foot. Very narrow streets for driving and a lot of stairs to go on foot.

  Spacious apartment with three separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen, close to restaurants, grocery store, beach and bus stop. It had everything we needed. Wifi worked well. We were very happy to be away from the hustle and bustle of old town. Good communication with owner, who was very pleasant.
  
  What could be improved: We were surprised to find a 153-step-staircase on our walk from the bus stop with luggage, but learned afterwards we could have taken a different route without stairs 🤣. Nothing we couldn't handle!

  Apartment has a good location with a perfect view over the Dubrovnik part where it is located. It is spacious with two bathrooms which is very convenient for families or a group of friends.It is well equiped. Personal is very nice, explained everything and also give recommendations regarding beaches, nearest shops, traffic to the city center.

  Really huge apartment, a nice and helpful owner, and two bathrooms.
  Close to the beach and nice promenade.
  The city centre is easily accessible by bus.

  The location was lovely with beach and restaurants nearby. There were stairs to climb but this meant a beautiful view. Local supermarket very close. Bus station also very close to get to Dubrovnik. Our host there to meet us on arrival and apartment had everything you would need. Would certainly recommend this apartment.
