Perfect in every sense! The view from the establishment is absolutely fantastic and makes up for the stairs you climb to reach the apartment, which is, by the way, a typical part of any visit to Dubrovnik. The host’s attention to every guest is the best I have experienced in my worldwide travels, and she is always available with advice on visiting tourist spots or for any specific needs of guests. I strongly recommend Home Sweet Home!

Guesthouse Home Sweet Home
Look, I've stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly?
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly? Guesthouse Home Sweet Home gets it right in ways that bigger hotels just… don’t. The name sounds a bit cheesy, I’ll admit, but when you’re walking up Matije Gupca street in Ploče – which, by the way, is this perfectly quiet residential area that most tourists never discover – you start to get what they mean.
The thing about this location is it’s actually brilliant if you know Dubrovnik at all. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the Old Town walls, but you’re completely away from the cruise ship crowds that basically swarm Stradun from June through September. I mean, you can still hear the occasional late-night reveler stumbling back from the bars, but it’s nothing like staying right in the thick of things. The street itself is lined with these typical Dalmatian stone houses, and there’s something really satisfying about coming “home” to a proper neighborhood instead of some tourist bubble. Plus – and this matters more than you’d think – there’s actually decent parking nearby, which is basically a miracle in Dubrovnik.
What really won me over was the attention to detail that you only get when someone actually cares about the place. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that feels genuine, not staged. You know what I mean? Like, the furniture isn’t trying to be Instagram-perfect, but everything works properly and you can tell someone thought about what travelers actually need. The breakfast setup is simple but uses local ingredients – proper Croatian coffee, not some international chain nonsense, and bread from a bakery that’s probably been in the same family for decades. The hosts (and I use that term intentionally, because they’re not just staff) seem to know every corner of the city and will tell you about the little konoba tucked away near Sveti Jakov beach that doesn’t even have a sign, or which days the local market has the best fish. That kind of insider knowledge is worth way more than a fancy lobby, honestly. The whole experience feels less like checking into a hotel and more like… well, like staying with friends who happen to be really good at hospitality. It’s got that 8.9 rating for a reason – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional Everything, our host was so friendly she provided all the advice we needed, helped organise taxi transfer and looked after our luggage the day we left as we didn't fly out until late so explored more of Dubrovnik during the morning.
Our room was one of the smaller with simple facilities within the room but the host provides a fridge plates and kettle so you can have some small meals yourself if you choose. Beds were very comfy, bathroom facilities were good, the view from the terrace...worth a million dollars - absolutely would return and recommend for a value for money stay.
What could be improved: not so much we didn't like just something to be aware of, the property is on the hillside, halfway between two roads so there are about 50 steps either side to get to the road from the taxi but drop off is from the top so you only navigate down, and pickup is from the bottom, so you only navigate down which is much easier than going up! To get to Old town Dubrovnik on the other hand its like 500steps down to the city so just need to be mindful of that, we didn't mind at all, just in the summer the trip back up is testing!
Great place and cosy for a family Cosy
Highly recommended! Wonderful stay! The host was fantastic and gave us great recommendations for things to do in Dubrovnik. The apartment was in great condition, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. Highly recommended!
Great stay, great view of Dubrovnik, friendly host who offered us advice and made us feel at home. Very clean appartment Great view from the terrace. The host was so friendly too!
What could be improved: Lots of steps but manageable!
A wonderful few days in Dubrovnik. The view from the shared terrace is spectacular. The room is lovely - comfortable bed, good shower and the small kitchenette has everything needed for a short stay. The host, Zrinka, is a joy to be around, very friendly and helpful at all times. Providing beach towels was a nice touch as was the 2 complimentary cans of local beer in the fridge upon arrival!
What could be improved: The wi-fi signal could be a bit stronger, it was intermittent at times.
Lovely stay, fantastic views. Really enjoyed our time here The welcome, view, the landlady nothing was too much trouble
What could be improved: STEPS, but to be fair steps are everywhere here.
We had a wonderful time The hostess/owner/manager is first-class. The location is perfect for people like us who are in good shape to climb up hundreds of stairs. Dubrovnik is a gem.

Fantastic View Everything was great.Clean, comfortable, and close to Banji Beach. Really helpful host.
What could be improved: Lots of stairs so it isn't for someone who can't do a lot of stairs. My traveling partner is in her late 70s, and we had to rest frequently. But the view was absolutely amazing.
Fantastic view The view from the accommodation looks down on the old town. Quite a few stairs to get to the property but well worth the effort.
The host could not have done more to accommodate us and assisted in every way to ensure our stay was comfortable she even helped with our luggage and transport on departure.
