Walking up to Guesthouse Vicelic on Antuninska Street, you immediately know you’ve found something special. I mean, this isn’t your typical guesthouse — it sits right in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that authentic Dalmatian stone charm you see throughout the historic center, but what really struck me was how quiet this little street feels despite being so central. You’re literally steps away from all the main attractions, yet it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming.
Here’s what I love about staying here — you can walk to Stradun in about two minutes, but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear the crowds at night. The couples who stay here clearly get it (they rate the location 9.6, which honestly makes sense), because there’s something romantic about wandering these narrow stone streets back to your guesthouse after dinner. You know what’s really convenient? There’s actually parking available, which is practically unheard of in the Old Town. Most places make you park outside the walls and haul your luggage over those slippery stones.
I have to mention the beds because, well, they’re genuinely comfortable — and that’s not something I say lightly about European guesthouses. The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of old-world character with modern comfort. The stone walls keep things cool even in summer, which is a blessing when Dubrovnik gets hot. What surprised me was how quiet everything was at night; you’d think being in the center would mean noise, but these thick walls really do their job.
The staff here actually know the area — not just the tourist spots, but where locals go for coffee or which restaurant serves the best black risotto without the tourist markup. They pointed me toward this tiny konoba just around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. Being so central means you can easily walk to the morning market near the harbor, grab fresh figs and cheese, and have breakfast on your little balcony if you’re lucky enough to get one of those rooms.
Look, Guesthouse Vicelic isn’t trying to be fancy or over-the-top — it’s just really good at what it does. You get an authentic Old Town experience without sacrificing comfort, and that location score of 9.5 isn’t just numbers on a screen. When you can walk to the city walls for sunrise photos, then pop back for a quick rest before exploring the afternoon away, you start to understand why people keep coming back. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want from a stay in this incredible city.
