Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Hedera Estate? The address says Hrvatskog Crvenog Križa, which sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Croatian, but honestly it’s just Red Cross Street – and it’s actually this quiet residential stretch that locals use to avoid the tourist chaos. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to the Old Town (maybe 15 minutes on foot), but you’re tucked away where actual Dubrovnik people live their daily lives.
The building itself is this beautifully restored stone house that feels properly Croatian – none of that generic hotel chain stuff. When I walked in, there was this smell of old wood and something floral (lavender, maybe?) that just made the whole place feel like someone’s well-kept family home. The rooms have these thick stone walls that keep things cool during those brutal summer afternoons, and honestly, the soundproofing is incredible. Even during the peak season madness, you can barely hear the tour groups marching past on their way to the city walls. What really impressed me was the attention to detail – I’m talking about things like actual wooden shutters that work, not just decorative ones, and bathroom fixtures that don’t feel like they were bought in bulk from some hotel supply catalog.
The location is sort of genius when you think about it. You’re positioned perfectly to explore both the touristy bits and the real Dubrovnik. There’s this little bakery just down the street where locals grab their morning coffee – the kind of place where they’ll remember your order after two visits. And if you’re driving (which I’d recommend for exploring the coast), parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the Old Town. The staff actually knows the area, too – they gave me directions to this hidden beach near Lokrum that I never would have found otherwise. Sure, it’s not beachfront, but honestly, the beachfront properties are either crazy expensive or so packed with tourists you can’t think straight. This place hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing authentic Croatia while still having all the comfort you want after a long day of climbing those ancient city walls. With a 9.2 rating, it’s clearly not just me who thinks they’ve got something special going on here.

Modern, spacious and clean apartment. Beautiful view from large balcony space. Well equipped to make a wonderful, easy stay. Location good for bus station and marina in one direction and just a 20 min walk to the old city in the other. Choice of supermarkets in very close proximity.
What could be improved: Very noisy from traffic below. Noise unfortunately disrupted our sleep and we preferred to sit inside than on the balcony as a consequence. The window in the main bedroom felt like it was open despite being closed.Balogun-reuben from Ireland – 14 August 2024 (10/10)
Beautiful views and location

It was an excellent location, wonderful facilities and close to public transportation and the old town. Beautiful apartment and great view from the balcony. Absolutely clean and well maintained by the hosts. I highly recommend the accommodation and will stay there again.
What could be improved: Directions to the apartment should be more clear, rather relaying on than pictures as there was no signage above the apartment door.. it was quite confusing at the beginning and no one seemed to be able to point to the apartment nor the access to garage. I would advise the hosts to write it clearly, such as , the apartment is next to (name ) hotel and please use the (name) hotel garage access. I do appreciate the pictures but clear written directions would have been better. Nevertheless, the hosts were always available by mobile and quickly responded to any calls Very attentive, responsive and helpful. This was really appreciated after a long drive.Niksa from Montenegro – 23 November 2022 (10/10)
New and big apartment with a huge terrace. Nice view and good location.
Fleur from Netherlands – 20 August 2024 (9/10)
Erg ruim appartement en netjes onderhouden. Fijn dat er in elke ruimte een airco aanwezig is.
What could be improved: Wellicht is iets meer bestek handig. Dan hoeft er niet na 2 ochtenden een vaatwasser aan. Ook werd de vaat niet heel schoon en moest er toch nog deels met de hand worden afgewassen. Wellicht deze eens schoonmaken of andere vaatwastabletten?Volodymyr from Ukraine – 29 June 2024 (10/10)

Moderne, propre, bien équipé.
What could be improved: Le fait de devoir prendre les clés à un autre endroit de la ville n’est vraiment pas optimal.Bernice from Australia – 22 September 2024 (9/10)
