They know the neighborhood well too, which matters more than you might think. Metohijska is in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the Old Town (maybe 15-20 minutes if you don’t mind a bit of uphill), but you’re not paying those insane Old Town prices for everything. There’s a decent pekara just around the corner where locals grab their morning coffee, and honestly, starting your day there instead of some overpriced tourist café makes all the difference.

The rooms themselves are clean and thoughtfully designed – nothing fancy, but they’ve clearly put effort into making the space feel welcoming rather than institutional. You know what I appreciated most? The soundproofing is actually decent. In a city where summer nights can get pretty lively, being able to sleep without earplugs is a genuine luxury. The Wi-Fi works consistently (tested it from my room and the common areas), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you don’t feel like you’re roughing it. I mean, the 7.4 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect, but it hits all the marks that matter to real travelers rather than just looking good in photos. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you can actually meet other travelers without feeling forced into some artificial hostel social scene. During my stay in late spring, I met people ranging from backpackers doing the Balkans circuit to couples taking a more comfortable approach to exploring the coast. If you’re looking for something that balances value with actual comfort in Dubrovnik – which isn’t always easy to find – this place delivers without pretending to be something it’s not.
