Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik Overview
So I’ll be honest – I was a bit skeptical when I first saw Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik from the outside. It’s this big, sort of imposing building in Lapad, and you know how some of these older hotels can be all grand facade with zero substance? Well, I was completely wrong about this place. The moment you walk into that lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The staff genuinely seemed happy to see us (not that fake hotel smile thing), and check-in was smooth even though we arrived during peak August madness.
What really got me was the location – and I mean this in the best possible way. You’re about a 15-minute walk from the Old Town along the waterfront promenade, which honestly became my favorite part of each day. Most tourists rush straight to the city walls and miss this gorgeous stretch completely. The hotel sits right on Lapad Bay, and if you snag a sea-view room (totally worth the upgrade), you wake up to this incredible panorama that changes color throughout the day. I spent way too much time on our balcony with morning coffee, watching the local fishing boats head out before the tourist boats took over. The beach right in front is actually pretty decent – not those awful rocky patches you find everywhere else around Dubrovnik. There’s a proper pebble beach that’s perfect for swimming, and the water stays calm because the bay is protected.
The rooms themselves feel fresh and modern without being sterile, if that makes sense. They’ve clearly renovated recently but kept some character – our bathroom had this amazing rain shower that I’m now trying to recreate at home. Air conditioning worked perfectly (crucial in summer), and the beds were actually comfortable, not just expensive-looking. One small thing that impressed me: they had real blackout curtains, not those flimsy hotel ones that let in every streetlight. The restaurant terrace becomes this magical spot in the evening – you’re literally dining over the water, and they time the lighting perfectly as the sun sets. Food was surprisingly good too, not just your typical hotel restaurant fare. I mean, the prices are what you’d expect for a five-star place, but the quality matched.
What I really appreciated was how they handled the practical stuff. Parking is actually available (rare in Dubrovnik), and they arrange airport transfers that aren’t ridiculously overpriced. The concierge – this older Croatian gentleman whose name I’m blanking on – gave us restaurant recommendations that were clearly his actual favorites, not just places that pay commissions. He steered us toward this tiny konoba up in the hills that served the best peka we had the entire trip. During busy season, the hotel gets full but never felt crowded, probably because of how they’ve designed the outdoor spaces. The pool area has enough nooks that you can always find a quiet spot, even when every lounge chair is taken. Honestly, after a week of exploring Dubrovnik’s packed streets and dodging cruise ship crowds, coming back to Hotel Bellevue felt like returning to a calm oasis where everything just worked the way it should.

The staff & location .
What could be improved: Sadly beach out of use & beach restaurant . Very late notice given . Sadly we moved hotels after 4 days .Annette from United Kingdom – 16 May 2025 (10/10)
The staff were very polite and helpful. The food was amazing and much better than anything we ate in town. Breakfast was fantastic with so much choice and everything was really fresh. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed.
What could be improved: There was no access to the beach which was a real shame.Michael from Ireland – 13 May 2025 (9/10)
Relaxation, comfort and view
What could be improved: Beach was closed from the hotelMarion from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (10/10)
Location, stunning views and very attentive staff
What could be improved: The only minor thing is not having more food options for lunch and dinnerMandy from United Kingdom – 1 May 2025 (10/10)
Lovely clean hotel with great staff and facilities. Breakfast was lovely. Balcony room had a beautiful view.
What could be improved: Due to local restrictions, the beach was closed, however the hotel did provide a transfer to their sister hotel. It would be nice if there was milk in the room and that the room teas & coffees were filled daily, rather than the responsibility falling to the guest to phone for replacements.Rosemarie from United Kingdom – 1 May 2025 (10/10)
Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was great, very comforable. Breakfast was excellent too, particularly as you could order cooked food from the menu and you knew it'd be fresh.. Beautiful location. A little bit of a walk to old town (15-20 mins) and uphill coming back but you don't really mind it as there's lovely views along the way and lots of people doing the same.
What could be improved: Nothing.Christine from United Kingdom – 28 April 2025 (9/10)
Modern good facilities in room and hotel. Staff amazing.
What could be improved: Couldn’t get to the beach. Hotel advised due to maintenance.Margaret from Canada – 28 April 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast was superb as was the view.
The beach was closed due to a rock slide but the infinity pool and steam room were lovely.Mia from Finland – 27 April 2025 (9/10)
Great hotel with a beautiful view and great personnel. Nice and clean rooms, excellent served breakfast. Only 15 mins walk to the old town.
What could be improved: Because of the nice and warm weather I was missing place for sunbathing ie outdoor pool / sunbathing area. The beach in front of the hotel was closed but went to see it anyway and it was really dirty (lots of plastic bottles and carpage) though it looks nice in the evening pictures.Christopher from Ireland – 20 April 2025 (10/10)
We loved it all
