Hotel Dubrovnik Palace Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Dubrovnik, and honestly? Most of them are either cramped Old Town places where you can barely get a suitcase up the stairs, or those massive resort complexes that feel like you could be anywhere. Hotel Dubrovnik Palace actually gets it right – it’s got that five-star polish without making you feel like you’re stuck in some corporate bubble.
The thing about this place is the location on Masarykov put. I mean, you’re in Lapad, which locals will tell you is where they’d actually choose to stay if they were tourists. It’s maybe a 15-minute bus ride into the Old Town (the buses run constantly), but you’re away from all that cruise ship chaos. You can walk down to the Lapad peninsula beaches – and I’m talking about actual pebble beaches where Croatian families go, not just tourist traps. The hotel sits up on this slight hill, so you get these really solid sea views from most rooms, especially if you snag something facing south. There’s this particular spot by the outdoor pool where you can see Elafiti Islands in the distance, and honestly, it’s one of those views that makes you stop scrolling your phone for a minute.
What surprised me most was how they’ve managed to keep things feeling authentically Croatian while still hitting all those luxury hotel marks. The breakfast spread includes proper local stuff – not just international buffet nonsense – like fresh figs when they’re in season, local cheeses, and this incredible prosciutto from somewhere up in the hills. The staff actually knows the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many five-star places employ people who’ve never ventured beyond the hotel grounds. They’ll tell you which konoba to hit for dinner (there’s this tiny place called Dubrovnik about ten minutes walk away that’s absolutely worth it), or how to time your Old Town visits to avoid the worst crowds.
The rooms themselves are… well, they’re what you’d expect from a place with a 9.1 rating, but it’s the details that got me. Proper blackout curtains – crucial if you’re trying to sleep off jetlag. The air conditioning actually works quietly, which is huge during those brutal July and August heat waves. And you know what? The WiFi doesn’t cut out every twenty minutes like it does at half the places along the coast. Parking’s included too, which saves you about 20 euros a day compared to most Dubrovnik hotels.
The pool area gets busy around mid-morning when families show up, but early evening it’s perfect for a swim while watching the sun set over the water. There’s this little bar tucked into the corner that makes surprisingly good cocktails – the bartender, Marko, makes this gin and tonic with local herbs that’s become sort of his signature thing. It’s those small touches that make you feel like you’re not just staying at another international chain property, even though they’ve got all the amenities you’d want from a five-star place.

we were so grateful to be upgraded to the presidential suite. It was a memorable stay at Hotel Dubrovnik Palace.
What could be improved: some of the staff were unfriendly and not very polite.Luis from United States – 15 May 2025 (9/10)
Location location and LOCATION! Amazing sea view room with balcony. Excellent staff, amazing spacious suite, beautiful pool area, overlooking the Adriatic.
What could be improved: The pool bar hours were cut short- no wiggle room. Hard cut off time, right at sunset, so it would have been to the benefit of hotel as well as guests to increase the pool bar access a little later.Linda from United States – 15 May 2025 (9/10)
Our room was wonderful as was the view. The staff was outstanding and patient. The location with the bus connection was great!

Friendly, appreciative staff. Breakfast was fabulous. View from room was spectacular. Easy access to old town Dubrovnik with the bus line. The ocean side was well designed. I really liked how the walkways past the pool were incorporated into the bedrock.
What could be improved: I would like to see the property use water conserving shower heads.Jon from United States – 13 May 2025 (9/10)
All the staff were friendly and attentive. Provided wonderful service. The sports massage and vitamin c facial was phenomenal.
What could be improved: More selections for light snack/lunch… club sandwich, pizza, chicken fingers, etc.Judith from United Kingdom – 7 May 2025 (9/10)
We only had 2 nights here, but everything was wonderful. We somehow managed to get upgraded to a beautiful suite with a spectacular view. The hotel is super-comfortable and facilities are great. There is a huge choice at breakfast and it was lovely to have a fresh omelette made for us.
It was perfect being able to buy bus tickets at the hotel and a public bus stop right outside the hotel to take us to the Old Town. Be warned- the Old Town is manic! It has to be visited and is beautiful, we went twice. It is so lovely to return to the peaceful calm of the hotel after fighting through the busy streets.

Everything. Accommodation, food, minibar, surroundings, nature, coast, sunset and of course Dubrovnik with all its attractions and cuisine.
What could be improved: Distrust towards guests in a 5-star hotel, ss a payment card must be presented before using the services!Debbie from United Kingdom – 5 May 2025 (9/10)
Lovely hotel in a great location, away from the crowds of Dubrovnik but only a short bus ride away with the no 4 bus stopping right outside the hotel.
Only had breakfast once but there was everything you could want.
Staff very helpful and kind, beautiful room
