You know what struck me first about Hotel Uvala? The way it sits tucked into the Lapad peninsula like it’s been there forever – which, honestly, it sort of has. I mean, this isn’t some flashy newcomer trying to steal thunder from the Old Town hotels. It’s this solid, comfortable 4-star place that locals actually respect, and that says something in Dubrovnik where half the hotels feel like tourist traps. The location on Masarykov Put is honestly perfect if you want to avoid the cruise ship crowds but still be close enough to everything that matters. You’re a 15-minute bus ride from Pile Gate (the buses run constantly), but here’s the thing – you’re also walking distance to some of the best swimming spots that most visitors never find.

The hotel itself has that Mediterranean charm without trying too hard, if that makes sense. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two, which is refreshing in a city where you can feel pretty anonymous. I loved how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually sleep with the windows open and hear the sea. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star: clean, comfortable beds, decent air conditioning (crucial in July and August), and most have at least partial sea views. The breakfast spread is surprisingly good – they do this local cheese and prosciutto thing that’s way better than the usual hotel buffet fare. Pro tip: grab coffee and pastries from the little café down the street at least once instead of always eating at the hotel – it’s where the neighborhood folks go, and the burek is incredible.

What really sets Uvala apart is how it connects you to actual Dubrovnik life. The Lapad area has this residential feel where you’ll see kids playing football in the squares and old men playing chess outside cafés. There’s a farmers market on Saturdays just a few blocks away, and the coastal path that runs along the peninsula is perfect for morning runs or evening walks – hardly any tourists know about it. The hotel’s 8.5 rating makes total sense when you consider it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, just a really solid base for exploring. Parking is included, which saves you about 20 euros a day compared to staying in the Old Town. Sure, you won’t have a view of the city walls from your breakfast table, but you’ll have something better – you’ll feel like you’re staying in a real place instead of a postcard. And honestly, after a day of fighting crowds on the Stradun, coming back to this quieter corner of Dubrovnik feels like finding a secret.

  Location was perfect! Bus stop right outside the hotel door. Walking distance to local bars, restaurants and supermarket. Clean rooms, friendly staff, spa facilities free of charge. Breakfast was lovely and cocktails were great! Couldn’t fault a thing!

  Great hotel, staff are all amazing, nothing was too much trouble, they were all extremely helpful.
  Breakfast was buffet style, Continental and hot available, something for everyone, great start to the day.
  location was perfect, lovely bay with lots of restaurants & bars to choose from or you can hop on the bus to the old town, bus stop is right outside the hotel door and ran frequently.
  We had a sea view room with a balcony, lovely to sit on the evening and watch the sun set.

  It was a very convenient location to Lapad pedestrian street, about 10 mins walk and Dubrovnik was about €6 in a Bolt or €2.50 on the bus.

  we were not advised of building work next to hotel. works started at 7am every morning! Also building work across the bay which was audible all day from hotel and beach.
