The name itself – it’s actually named after the old quarantine building that used to stand nearby, back when ships arriving in Dubrovnik had to isolate before entering the city. Pretty cool bit of history, and honestly, it sets the tone for this place perfectly. It’s right on Bokeljska ulica, which is this lovely street that feels authentically Croatian without being touristy – you’ll hear more local chatter than English as you walk to dinner.
The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Old Town (maybe 15 minutes on foot) but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds every morning. I mean, don’t get me wrong, you’ll still want to hit the city walls and all that, but coming back to Lazaret feels like retreating to where actual people live. The building itself has this understated elegance – it’s a 4-star property, but it doesn’t try too hard to impress you with marble everything. Instead, there’s this warm, lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying at a well-traveled friend’s place.
What really got me was the attention to detail without the fuss. The rooms have these lovely wooden floors that creak just slightly when you walk barefoot (in a charming way, not annoying), and the windows actually open properly – which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels seal you in. The staff seems genuinely happy to be there, not just going through the motions, and they know their stuff about the area. When I asked about avoiding the crowds at Rector’s Palace, the front desk guy gave me this whole insider schedule about when the tour groups rotate through. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings – there’s this little bakery just down the street that does these incredible burek pastries for breakfast, and you’ll smell them baking around 6 AM if you’re an early riser. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to Dubrovnik), but the hotel staff actually knows which spots tend to open up when, which saved me from circling around like a lost tourist. One thing to note – if you’re someone who needs complete silence to sleep, the windows facing the street might pick up some late-night conversation from locals heading home, but honestly, I found it kind of charming. What could be improved: Bathroom too small . Feels like they tried to squeeze too much into a small space Dark and very uncomfortable . No space to put own toiletries.

Superb It was very peaceful area and close to some beaches and the port. The apartment was clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: Old town was not directly accessible, but the dubrovnik official city pass was very useful, because I wanted to walk the walls anyway. The bus was 12 minutes walk because it was weekend, so that was doable.

주위에 마트도 있어 편리했습니다 그리고 주위에 있는 하이퍼마켓에 있는 BOBIS 빵집은 아침에 현지인들이 줄서서 살 정도로 정말 맛있는 빵집입니다
호스트도 무척 친절하고 집 주위에 바닷가에 산책하기도 정말 좋았어요
Exceptional La struttura e un po distante dal centro, ma con una passeggiata di 15 minuti si raggiunge la piu vicina spiaggia sunset beach.
La sera con 10 € abbiamo raggiunto il centro con un uber.
Il monolocale dove abbiamo dormito era ampio, molto pulito e dotato di tutto l'occorrente, addirittura una macchinetta per il caffè espresso con le sue cialde ed un bollitore con varie bustine per il the.
La proprietaria molto gentile e disponibile.

Excellent L'appartement est spacieux, il y a la climatisation et des glaçons prêts dans le freezer. Un parking gratuit est disponible juste devant l'appartement. L'hôte est souriante. C'est un peu loin de la vieille ville mais l'emplacement est bien, quasiment au bord de l'eau.

Fantastisch! Ons verblijf in accomodatie Lazaret was fantastisch. Zeer schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. Goede ruimte om je auto te parkeren. Met een Uber ben je voor een redelijke prijs zo in de Old City van Dubrovnik. Erg gemakkelijk. De hostess, Josipa, was uiterst vriendelijk en zeer behulpzaam. Dank je wel daarvoor. Mochten we nogmaals naar Dubrovnik komen dan boeken we deze accommodatie zeer zeker weer.

What could be improved: The beach is down a few flights of steps, so not so easy to get to for people with walking difficulties.
