There’s this nice balance where you get all the conveniences you need without losing that “I’m actually in medieval Dubrovnik” atmosphere. The morning light coming through the windows hits those stone walls in a way that makes you want to just sit with your coffee a bit longer before heading out.

Here’s the thing about staying right in the Old Town – you’ll hear the early morning delivery trucks on the cobblestones around 6 AM (they have to get supplies in before the tourist crowds), but honestly, it becomes part of the charm after a day or two. Plus, being this central means you can pop back to your room during the day when it gets too hot or crowded, then head out again for dinner without any planning. The host clearly knows their stuff about the area too – they pointed me toward this little bakery on Prijeko that I never would have found otherwise, and steered me away from the tourist trap restaurants near the Rector’s Palace. You know what surprised me most? Despite being smack in the middle of everything, it never felt cramped or overwhelmed by tour groups. Maybe it’s because Lučarica is just off the main drag enough that you get some breathing room while still being a 30-second walk from all the action.
