You know what struck me first about Gina’s place? The fact that it’s tucked away on Iva Vojnovića – honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the entrance because it’s so discreetly positioned in this lovely residential pocket of Lapad. But that’s actually what makes it brilliant. You’re about a 12-minute walk from Lapad Bay (the locals call it Uvala Lapad), where there’s this gorgeous pebble beach that most tourists somehow miss because they’re all crowding around the Old Town.

The apartment itself is… well, calling it an apartment feels like underselling it. The terrace is honestly the star of the show – I mean, you’ve got these glimpses of the Adriatic between the pine trees, and in the evening, you can actually hear the waves if you listen carefully. The setup inside is what I’d call “sophisticated comfort” – everything feels quality without being stuffy. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters because there’s a fantastic little market just down the street where you can grab fresh figs and local cheese. I spent most mornings out there with coffee, watching the neighborhood wake up. There’s something about Croatian mornings that just hits different, you know? The way the light filters through those Mediterranean pines, the distant sound of someone’s radio playing traditional music…

What really sold me on this place – and why I keep recommending it to friends – is that you get the best of both worlds. Lapad has this relaxed, almost village-y feel compared to the intensity of Dubrovnik’s historic center, but you’re still connected. The bus stop is literally a three-minute walk, and those buses run pretty regularly to Pile Gate. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the Old Town (though honestly, you won’t need a car much). Gina was incredibly helpful with local tips too – she pointed me toward this family-run konoba about ten minutes away where I had the best black risotto of my life. The whole experience just felt… authentic, I guess? Like you’re staying in someone’s thoughtfully curated home rather than some generic rental. And that 10 rating? Yeah, I get it. It’s one of those places where every detail has been considered, but it doesn’t feel overthought. Just really, really well done.
