You know what struck me first about this place? The moment you step through the door on Zvijezdićeva, you’re hit with this incredible contrast – the stone walls and old-world charm you’d expect in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, but then there’s this modern luxury of heated floors under your feet. I mean, who thinks of floor heating in Croatia? But honestly, it’s genius, especially if you’re visiting in shoulder season when those ancient stone buildings can get pretty chilly.

The garden though – that’s where this place really shines. Most accommodations inside the city walls barely have a balcony, let alone actual green space, but somehow they’ve carved out this lush private oasis that feels like a secret courtyard. I spent way too much time out there with my morning coffee, listening to the church bells from nearby St. Blaise (you’re literally a two-minute walk from the main square, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds). The garden’s got this mix of Mediterranean plants and what I’d call “Instagram-worthy” lighting in the evenings – though I hate to reduce it to that because it’s genuinely peaceful, not just pretty.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to blend the historical elements with actual comfort. The stone walls are the real deal – this building has serious history – but they’ve added these thoughtful touches like really good lighting and, well, that floor heating I keep mentioning because it’s such a game-changer. The whole place feels authentic without being rustic in an uncomfortable way, if that makes sense. Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of everything but on a quieter street – Zvijezdićeva isn’t one of the main tourist thoroughfares, so you can actually sleep at night (trust me, this matters in Old Town during peak season). You can walk to Stradun in about thirty seconds, hit the walls for sunrise photos, or duck into that little bakery on Prijeko for the best burek without dealing with the chaos of staying right on the main drag. Honestly, with a 9.7 rating, I was expecting maybe some exaggeration, but this place actually lives up to it – which is rare these days.

  Where to start? Well firstly the apartment is great…..but the real gem is property manager Marijana. She was there every step of the way for us – we had a pretty major delay getting to Dubrovnik and Mare took care of making the needed changes. She arranged everything from transfers to day trips. It definitely felt like having our own personal concierge. The apartment is compact but very well laid out. It was great having two bathrooms. The garden was an additional bonus. The apartment is very well situated and is close to some great restaurants.

  Very well prepared, there were even umbrellas (which was handy because it rained for a couple days). The host was amazing, and very helpful. Having a little garden to use with fresh oranges to pick was amazing.

  The location was absolutely perfect. We traveled to Dubrovnik for our nieces wedding. My husband and my two grown daughters stayed at the property. Mare was an incredible hostess! She set us up with a driver from the airport, porters to take our luggage to the property and plenty of advice of where to eat and what to explore! The house was clean and had all of the amenities we could have needed.

  Everything we needed. Very well decorated and ac great as very hot during visit. Stayed as family of 4 with daughters aged 18 & 21 yrs. Garden great to relax in – bring bug spray. Buza bar only min walk to get into sea or jump from rocks but also liked concrete beach near Pile gate.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing there are steps to property & would def recommend assistance with cases to/from gates which is arranged easily through Mare – €15 per case but well worth it.

  Fantastic location on beautiful side street. Away from all the (other) tourists, but a 1 or 2 minute walk from everything including the main street. We had EVERYTHING we needed, even hair straighteners. Beds were very comfortable too. Our host met us at one of the gates and walked us to the appartment, offering advice along the way about bars and shops. She'll also organise a driver from the airport for you. The garden was lovely to have. The house was fully airconditioned and it worked brilliantly when you needed a quick cold 'blast'. Totally recommend this is as a place to stay. We stayed as a couple and our 19 year old son. It could fit two couples, but one room is slightly smaller than the top floor bedroom. It was perfect for us!

  Just a tip really – do bring bug spray in the summer. Even though it is a city by the sea and amazingly clean there are mosquitos. Although the swallows do their best… you can watch them diving and swooping during the evenings.
