You know what struck me first about this place? The name actually undersells it. Private Garden Apartment sounds nice enough, but when you’re sitting in that little courtyard with your morning coffee, surrounded by olive trees and jasmine that smells incredible in the early evening, you realize it’s more like having your own secret hideaway in Dubrovnik.

The location on Kralja Petra Krešimira IV is honestly perfect if you know anything about how this city works. You’re in Ploče, which means you’re close enough to walk to the Old Town walls in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds stumbling past your window at all hours. I mean, don’t get me wrong – I love the energy of the historic center, but after a day of exploring those stone streets and dodging tour groups, coming back to this quiet residential area feels like exhaling. The apartment itself has that lived-in charm that a lot of places try to fake but can’t quite pull off. The rooms are simple but thoughtfully arranged, and whoever set this up clearly understands what travelers actually need – good wifi, decent water pressure, and enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The kitchen is small but functional, which matters more than you’d think when you want to grab fresh produce from the morning market near Gruž and make a simple lunch instead of paying restaurant prices for every meal.

What really makes this place special though is how it lets you experience Dubrovnik like less of a tourist. Your neighbors are locals heading to work, not other people with rolling suitcases, and there’s something refreshing about that rhythm. The walk to Banje Beach takes maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not in a hurry, and honestly, that stretch along the coast never gets old. Plus – and this is crucial if you’re visiting in summer – the garden provides actual shade and a place to cool off during those brutal afternoon hours when the sun turns the stone streets into an oven. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here, because it’s not trying to be fancy or impress anyone. It’s just… well, it works exactly like you’d want it to. The owner clearly cares about the details without being fussy about it, and check-in was straightforward without any of those weird quirks that sometimes come with apartment rentals. I’d definitely come back, which honestly says more than any marketing copy could.

  Absolutely fantastic apartment! Spacious, very well looked after and organised, literally just like being home away from home. Modern design, super clean with many gadgets and essentials one may need (from ice, brolly, insect repellent, after sun lotion, you name it – it’s right there). Would wholeheartedly recommend, quiet, beautiful garden, private – did some sunbathing, loads of relaxing and dining outside. Beautiful view of the port with the gorgeous smell of the blossom. It was a lovely change to our prior couple-of-days hotel stay as we wanted to try out and enjoy more private accommodation options and so glad we did!
  Walking distance to Old Town, very close to restaurants and shops – there’s a grocery store, wine store, fast food restaurant and a bakery just right across the street and a wonderful fine dining restaurant on a way to the old town. Super thoughtful and friendly owner, we really enjoyed our stay and would most definitely recommend! Above and beyond!

  What a wonderful apartment. Had absolutely everything you could possibly need. The views from the garden were stunning. Great communication from host, who even offered to let us check out late on the last day which was super helpful as we had a late afternoon flight.
  
  What could be improved: I wish I could give more than 10 stars to counter the previous reviewer who seemed to score this apartment down because of the steps. If you can't cope with steps, maybe go somewhere that isn't famous for its steps?

  This is a lovely apartment in a great location. It's a short walk into the old town, and it was a pleasure to be away from the crowds of the old town and to have some outdoor space (in a beautiful garden). The apartment is well equipped with all you'd expect (including a washing machine and dishwasher), and check in / check out was very easy (and the host was very helpful). Very nicely decorated, and in a great (and quiet) location. Would strongly recommend.
