Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Croatia, and the River Of Dubrovnik in Komolac honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place outside the main tourist zone and worry you’ve made a mistake? Well, this wasn’t one of those times. The hotel sits right along the Dubrovnik River – and I mean right along it, like you can hear the gentle water flow from your room if you crack the window open at night.
What struck me first was how refreshingly quiet it is compared to staying in Old Town. Don’t get me wrong, I love wandering those ancient streets, but after a day of dodging cruise ship crowds and dodging selfie sticks, coming back to this peaceful spot in Komolac felt like exhaling. The staff actually remembers your name by day two, which sounds small but makes such a difference. They’ve got this relaxed Croatian hospitality thing down – not hovering, but genuinely helpful when you need something. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, but it’s the little touches that got me: proper blackout curtains (thank god), a balcony that actually fits two people comfortably, and honestly some of the best shower pressure I’ve had in the Balkans.
Here’s the thing about Komolac that most people don’t realize – you’re maybe 15 minutes from Dubrovnik’s city center by car, but it feels like a completely different world. There’s this authentic neighborhood feel where you’ll see locals walking their dogs along the river path in the evening, and there’s a decent konoba (that’s a traditional tavern) just down the street where the fish is actually caught locally, not trucked in for tourists. The hotel’s breakfast setup overlooks the water, and I found myself lingering there way longer than usual, just watching the morning mist lift off the river. Parking is included and actually exists – anyone who’s tried to park in Dubrovnik proper will appreciate this more than they should. The 9.8 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not flashy or trying too hard, just consistently good at the things that matter. If you’re the type who wants to experience Dubrovnik without feeling like you’re living in a UNESCO snow globe, this place gets it right.

Komfortowy apartament w spokojnej okolicy :) Świetny apartament, spokojna okolica, dobrze skomunikowany z centrum Dubrownika (autobusy co 10-20 minut). Spory zapas ręczników, dodatkowo możliwość skorzystania z pralki. W pobliżu 2 sklepy. Parking przed samym blokiem. Gospodarz bardzo miły, pomocny, udzielił kilku fajnych wskazówek na początek.

Exceptional place to relax and have comfortable time in a close proximity to Dubrovnik The apartment is brand new, spacious, very well equipped, with a lot of storage space and all the kitchen utensils, is fresh and exceptionally clean. There was some tea/seasonings/olive oil/laundry detergent available for use in case you haven’t brought any with you. Beds are very comfortable, bed linen fresh and clean. There is a large balcony/terrace and oven where you can cook fish bought on the farmer’s market in the city. There’s a parking lot in front of the building, the area is tranquil, with a bus stop and a few supermarkets that work till late evening even on Sundays. The host welcomed us warmly, gave some useful tips for navigating the city and made a few pleasant and generous gifts. My group and myself definitely has this stay as a memorable one and would like to come again in the future. Thank you to the host and highly recommend!
What could be improved: While the area is tranquil and away from the road, there were some celebrations with fireworks further away in the neighborhood. Usually that would not cause any issues, but for people from war zone/Ukraine this is something to be prepared for/keep in mind.
Modern, quiet, clean and well appointed unit with all essentials provided. Nice, clean modern apartment with all the essentials needed for a stay. Host was very friendly and gave us some handy tips regarding which beaches to visit to take advantage of free parking and proximity to the beach. He also gave us some sound advice regarding travel to and from the old town - saved us a lot of time and money.
The location is handy in the sense that a store and bus stop are only 50m away, so picking up supplies and getting in and out of the old town is easy by bus.
Definitely recommend if you want a modern, clean and well appointed apartment with easy access in and out of town by bus. Excellent if you’ve come with a car, but could be a little harder to get around town without one as it is about 6-7km from the centre of Dubrovnik.
Exceptional We liked everything. The apartment is new and perfectly clean. It has everything for a whole family to live in. In a quiet place. Nearby there is a bus stop and a store. The owners are very friendly and attentive! We are happy!
Exceptional The unit was perfect. Well equipped with more than enough towels and very well-equipped kitchen for cooking at home. The grocery store as well as bus stop is only a few minutes by foot and easy to find. Our host, Niko was very friendly and helpful. He met us at the airport with his taxi and took us to the apartment. He also helped us with transport during our stay when we needed to travel other than by bus. The marina is also relatively close with some nice restaurants.
What could be improved: There is nothing that we needed during our stay. Everything was perfect!

Loved accommodation and its location. Dubrovnik was fabulous. The host was very obliging and we arranged for her husband to collect us from the airport and he gave us a guided tour of Dubrovnik. They were both very friendly and helpful. Supermarket and bus stop 100m from apartment and lovely location .
What could be improved: Nothing.
Exceptional Ghosts were very warm and welcoming. The apartment was super clean and very well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
