Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Room Eddie on Prijeko, I almost walked right past it. The entrance is pretty understated, which is actually refreshing in a city where every other place is trying to scream “boutique hotel” at you. But once you’re inside, you get it. This place has that perfect balance of being polished enough for a proper vacation but not so fancy that you feel weird coming back after a sweaty day climbing the city walls.

The location is what really sells it, though. Prijeko is this narrow little street that runs parallel to the main drag (Stradun), but it’s where all the locals actually hang out. You’re literally a two-minute walk from all the touristy stuff – I mean, you can practically touch the cathedral from here – but at night when the day-trippers clear out, you’ll hear actual conversations in Croatian drifting up from the restaurants below instead of just camera clicks. The rooms themselves are honestly better than I expected for a 4-star place in Old Town. I stayed there in late September, and even with the windows open, the stone walls kept everything surprisingly cool. You know what impressed me most? The bathroom actually had decent water pressure, which… if you’ve stayed in old European buildings before, you know that’s not always a given.

Here’s the thing about staying right in Old Town – yes, it gets busy during the day, but Room Eddie is tucked just enough off the main tourist circuit that you won’t have cruise ship groups trampling past your window at 7 AM. The staff clearly knows the area inside and out; they pointed me toward this tiny wine bar called D’Vino that I never would have found on my own, and when I mentioned wanting to catch the sunset somewhere less crowded than the usual spots, they directed me to this little viewpoint near Fort Lovrijenac that was absolutely perfect. Parking is… well, it’s Dubrovnik Old Town, so forget about parking anywhere nearby. But they’ll sort you out with directions to the lots outside Pile Gate, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it nails all the important stuff and the location alone makes it worth booking. Just don’t expect a pool or room service; this is more about giving you a comfortable base to explore one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
