Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and honestly, Rooms Posat is one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some local code. It’s tucked away on Uz Posat street – which, if you know the Old Town at all, is perfectly positioned but not where the cruise ship crowds are stomping around at 7 AM with their rolling suitcases.

The thing about this place is that it punches way above its 3-star rating. I mean, sure, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a concierge in a fancy uniform, but you know what you are getting? A genuinely comfortable spot run by people who actually care about whether you sleep well. The rooms are clean in that satisfying way where everything just feels right – good water pressure (crucial after climbing those stone steps all day), proper blackout curtains, and beds that don’t feel like they came from a budget furniture warehouse. The owners clearly get that travelers want simplicity done well rather than fancy amenities that half-work.

What really sold me on this place was the location knowledge they shared during check-in. They pointed me toward this little bakery about three minutes away that opens at 6 AM – perfect for grabbing something before the morning light hits the city walls just right for photos. And they were spot-on about timing dinner reservations; apparently half the restaurants in that area get slammed around 7:30, but if you know to book for 6 or 8:30, you’re golden. These are the kinds of insights you only get from people who live here, not from some corporate hotel chain manual.

The street itself is pretty quiet considering you’re basically in the heart of everything – I could hear some distant chatter from the main pedestrian areas, but nothing that kept me awake. Parking is… well, it’s Dubrovnik, so parking is always going to be a thing, but they have solid advice about the logistics and won’t just shrug when you ask about it. During my stay in September, the place had this relaxed vibe where you’d run into other guests in the common areas and actually end up having real conversations about where to catch sunset or which day trip boats are worth the money.

Honestly, the 9-point-something rating makes complete sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – just a really well-run place where the details are handled thoughtfully. You’ll pay less than you would for the big hotels up the coast, sleep better than you expect, and probably leave with a few local tips that’ll make the rest of your Croatia trip better. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  • Lovely place to stay – Jeffrey from Singapore – 21 May 2025 (10/10)

Very nice, clean and spacious room. Good view of the old town. Loved the proximity to the walled town..2min walk to pile gate. Close proximity to supermarket. Highly recommend this place!

  • Exceptional – John from United States – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

The staff …. Tea was exceptional. The location was perfect. No complaints at all. We truly enjoyed our time there.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Could not think of a better place to stay in Dubrovnik. – Lincoln from Australia – 18 February 2025 (9/10)

Clean, spacious and bright. Peacefully located outside the confines of the old city but only a minute to the Pile Gate. Buses and taxis are just down the steps. View of Dubrovnik and fortress and the sea were spectacular to wake to. Restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Hilton Hotel close-by for a very good value dinner or coffee.

What could be improved: Nothing major. Steps outside are steep. Actual apartment is hard to find – around the back of the property and up some stairs.

  • Exceptional – Dragana from Germany – 11 November 2024 (10/10)

Such a beautiful place to stay with a great view, very close to the Old city and beaches. The family owning the apartments was so lovely and pleasant.
Nicely equipped apartment with a clean and spacious bathroom. Strongly recommended!

  • Amazing view and location – Melisa from United States – 10 November 2024 (10/10)

Our favorite was the view. It was amazing! Super close to old town and nice restaurants. The host was super nice and helpful.

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Beautiful. – Alexander from United States – 24 October 2024 (10/10)

Across street from Old Town. Charming view, charming owner.

What could be improved: Host should warn about the 50 or so steps luggage has to be hauled from street. Not a good fit for the less fit.

  • Great location! – Kalyani from United States – 23 October 2024 (10/10)

Great location, super responsive host – perfect, simple room for a solo traveller. Host was really helpful and made my stay excellent. Will definitely return!

  • Highly recomend if you want to be in the heart of the action. – Sarah from Australia – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

Location is great, right near one of the gates to the Walls of Dubrovnik plus restaurants and shops. Great views. Comfortable and spacious room. Host was nice, friendly and helpful and showed us to our room.

What could be improved: Was a little bit noisy as very close to a restaurant but it may have been becasue we left the windows open for the breeze. It really was not a problem as restaurants do not stay open late.

  • New experience – ticked the box but wouldn't go back – ever!!! – Garyspec from United Kingdom – 5 October 2024 (9/10)

Location to Old Town and Pile Gate was superb.. Host & house fantastic – really looked after us during the whole stay – the house is around 200 years old and is so welcoming.. all necessary amenities in room – would want to stay here again if we ever did return to Dubrovnik ,,,, however, just for your info which might be helpful, you would/could have difficulty if you have any walking impediments as the property is up several flights of steps to reach the outer gate, and then once inside the property you have another two flights of stairs to reach your room .. OK going down but a different story on the way back up from the town or shops/restaurants below … apart from that – Dubrovnik old town isn't great for anyone with walking difficulties as its mainly hilly with lots of steps up n down .. no wheel chair access either anywhere that we could see…

What could be improved: Doesn't cater for anyone with walking difficulty or disability … not user friendly anywhere. and THEY DON'T MENTION THIS ANYWHERE IN ANY TOURIST BROCHURE !!! Be warned ….
Also – make sure you have plenty of money and happy and prepared to spend it – Everything is very expensive .. i.e. To walk around the old town walls is £35.00 per person.. Game of Thrones is thrashed to death in 90% of the shops and a cheap Chinese Tee shirt with a GoT logo/design on costs between 30 to 40 euros… you can buy same on internet for £8. … Food.. well you have to eat .. but again be prepared to pay BIG BUCKS for it no matter what you buy.. a small Americano coffee £5.. a small plain croissant 2 euro… we spent an absolute fortune on necessities.. and only there a week… bottom line is .. if you want to go there – bring plenty of money which ever way you look at it… 😁
