You’re maybe a 15-minute bus ride from Pile Gate, but here’s the thing – after a day of dodging cruise ship crowds, you’ll actually want to come back to somewhere that feels… normal.

Walking in, you immediately notice how much thought went into the space – it’s got that modern Croatian apartment feel without being sterile. The kitchen actually works, which I can’t say for half the places I’ve rented in Europe, and there’s proper counter space if you want to grab groceries from the Konzum down the street. The bedroom gets great morning light, though if you’re sensitive to street noise, well… it’s a city apartment. Nothing terrible, just the occasional scooter or early morning delivery truck. Not the rocky, crowded spots the day-trippers hit, but an actual sandy beach where Croatian families spend their weekends. There’s a little promenade along the water with cafes that serve proper coffee (not tourist coffee), and honestly, some of my best Dubrovnik memories are from just sitting there in the evening with a beer, watching kids play in the shallows. The Lapad market happens twice a week right in the neighborhood – you can actually buy tomatoes that taste like tomatoes, if you know what I mean. And when you do want to explore the Old Town or hit up the cable car, the bus stop is literally around the corner. The 6 line runs regularly, and locals are usually happy to help if you look confused (which, let’s be honest, happens to all of us with Croatian bus routes). Saint Blaise Apartment isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or a lobby that looks like a magazine spread, but it gives you something better – a genuine slice of how people actually live in this incredible city.
