Hotel Description
I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address on Petilovrijenci, I had to double-check my booking because it felt almost too good to be true. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pile Gate, which means you can duck back to the apartment anytime the Old Town crowds get overwhelming (and trust me, they will around midday in summer). The San Pietro apartment sits in this perfect sweet spot where you get the full medieval Dubrovnik experience without the tourist trap pricing of staying right on Stradun.
The apartment itself has that lived-in charm that actually makes you feel like you’re staying in someone’s carefully curated home rather than a sterile hotel room. The stone walls keep things wonderfully cool even when it’s blazing outside – something you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting between June and August. I mean, the AC works great too, but there’s something about those thick walls that just feels right in a 600-year-old city. The windows face away from the main pedestrian flow, so you’re not dealing with the constant chatter of tour groups, though you’ll still catch the ambient sounds of the Old Town, which honestly adds to the whole experience. What really got me was the attention to detail – proper blackout curtains (crucial for those summer sunrises), a kitchen that’s actually equipped for real cooking if you want to hit the morning market, and Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes like some places I’ve stayed.
The location is where this place really shines though. You’re close enough to Onofrio’s Fountain that you can hear it if you open the windows, but far enough from the main drag that you’re not constantly navigating selfie sticks. There’s a little bakery about thirty seconds away that opens at 6 AM – perfect for grabbing coffee before the city wakes up and you have those iconic streets mostly to yourself. Parking is… well, it’s Dubrovnik, so you’re looking at the public garage outside the walls, but honestly that’s pretty standard for anything decent in the Old Town. The host was super responsive too, actually met me at the apartment for check-in and gave me the kind of local tips you can’t find in guidebooks – like which entrance to use for the city walls to avoid the longest lines, and where to find decent dinner after 9 PM when half the restaurants are already closing. With a 9.6 rating, you know other people have had similarly solid experiences, and after staying here, I totally get why. It’s one of those places where you feel like you discovered something special, even though you probably just got lucky with your booking.

You’ve got everything you need in this property.
Very clean and well-maintained. Love the fact that there are two areas, living room/dining/kitchen and bedroom which works well for families. Proximity to all restaurants and attractions in Old Town. Located at relatively higher area in Old Town giving you an amazing view (especially the sunset) and also quieter area than the ones near Stradun. Erna was very gracious and always checks on us and what we need. We highly recommend this place.
What could be improved: A lot of steps for sure but this is common in the Old Town. A strategy would be when going to the Stradun is walk one level down and towards the end of the streets and exiting from there as those areas has lesser steps compared to the middle part of the Old Town. But other than that those steps were also helpful in burning all the calories from the amazing food you will eat in Dubrovnik. 😉Seth from United States – 19 September 2024 (10/10)
Great location up stairs from the old town center near Buza gate. Very good space with the kitchen and living area separate and up stairs from the bedroom. Close to all old town has to offer. Erna is a gracious host with lots of knowledge of Dubrovnik.

The location was perfect. Quietly tucked into Old Town. Steps from Pile Gate with the tour pick ups, steps from Buza gate for transport to and from. Erna was the most kind and accommodating host ever!

Wonderful apartment in the heart of old town Dubrovnik
Detailed instructions to get to the apartment were provided by our host. We arrived by ferry and only had carry on luggage so it was easy to take the bus to the Pile gate. Otherwise it would be wise to take an uber or taxi to the Buza gate as there are less steps and you will be going down them instead of up. The apartment is up from the Placa (Stradun) so there are many steps to the apartment then also as the apartment is on 3 levels – more steps but that is to be expected in almost all ‘old town’ apartments in Croatia.
Great communication with our host Erna and we were fortunately able to check in early. The apartment has been beautifully remodeled and just like the photos on booking.com. Used the washing machine and got a kick out of stringing our laundry across the rooftops to dry!
Our host Erna came by to meet with us and she told us the apartment has been in her family for many years and we could tell how special it was to her. She also gifted us with some family made lemoncello which was delicious. The apartment was very convenient to everything and dozen of restaurants closeby. All in all a wonderful stop in Dubrovnik made even more special by this wonderful accommodation.
What could be improved: We loved everything.Ursula from Australia – 12 July 2024 (10/10)
San Pietro was the perfect stay for us. Close to everything, clean and our host Erna was exceptional. She booked our taxis to and from the airport and a recommended a trip to the islands that we will never forget.
She was there to greet us on arrival and showed us a map of the town.
Couldn’t recommend San Pietro enough.Javier from France – 9 July 2024 (10/10)
The property was amazing and great location in the old town.
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing.Mostafa from United States – 6 July 2024 (10/10)
I can write thesis here:
Erma is super awesome. She greeted us when we arrived and walked us through her apt. My wife and I felt at home from the get-go (stayed here for 6 nights). The house has everything we could have asked for! It is very close to Stradun, view is great. All in all we could not have asked for asked for anything better. If we ever come back we will pick this place again! Erma – thank you again for everything! You are probably one of the best hosts we have ever met!
What could be improved: Nothing
