So I stumbled upon this place called Skyscraper Apartment while hunting for somewhere decent to stay in Dubrovnik, and honestly? It’s one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your booking skills. The name’s a little misleading though – it’s not some towering glass monster, just a solid modern building that actually fits pretty well into the neighborhood vibe on Put Stjepana Cvijića.

Here’s what I loved about the location: you’re far enough from the Old Town madness that you can actually sleep at night (trust me, those limestone streets echo every single tourist conversation at 2 AM), but close enough that it’s maybe a 15-minute walk down the hill. The street itself is quiet – mostly locals going about their business, which means you get to see actual Croatian life instead of just souvenir shops and overpriced konobas. There’s a decent grocery store within walking distance, and I mean the kind where old Croatian ladies are picking out tomatoes, not some tourist trap charging €8 for water.

The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there sometimes, you know? Not that sterile hotel room vibe where everything’s beige and bolted down. The views – well, let’s just say the “skyscraper” name starts making sense when you’re looking out over the city and getting glimpses of the Adriatic. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, which was clutch because eating out every meal in Dubrovnik will bankrupt you faster than you can say “black risotto.” I actually cooked a few meals with stuff from the local market, and it felt more authentic than half the restaurants in the tourist zone anyway.

What really sold me on this place was the little details. The Wi-Fi actually works (revolutionary concept, I know), the shower has proper water pressure, and – this might sound weird – but the building doesn’t smell like cleaning products mixed with damp towels like so many places do. The check-in was smooth, no drama about key pickups or confusing instructions. Plus, parking’s not a complete nightmare if you’re driving, which in Dubrovnik is basically a miracle.

Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities or anything, but for a 4-star place with solid ratings (8.2 sounds about right), it delivers exactly what you want: a clean, comfortable base where you can recharge between exploring the walls, day-tripping to the islands, or whatever else brings you to this ridiculously photogenic part of the world. The price point feels fair for what you get, especially considering you’re not paying the Old Town premium while still being close enough to walk there whenever the mood strikes.

  The view from the balcony is amazing, the bedrooms were very big and lot's of space in the apartment. The shower is great too. It's very quick to get into town from the apartment, although takes longer coming back due to lots of steps.
  
  What could be improved: The Wi-Fi was a little slow but not a major issue! The boiler also wasn't working when we arrived, but just simply needed to be switched on which I fixed easily enough.

  Good location, short walk to the waterfront (beware the hill climb back), short (<€5) uber or bus ride to Old Town and Gondola, great restaurant (La Luna) just a 5min walk and a small Tommy market across the road. Staff at reception were excellent, great communication and friendly service with a smile (and a laugh!).
  The apartment was clean, airy (esp if you open the lounge and bedroom door/windows), and bright. Great view, lovely for the sunset.
  
  What could be improved: Beware that there are effectively 2 storeys of stairs before you get to the lift. Wasn't an issue, but it's good to know. No mark-down as we were made aware.

  Шикарный вид с терассы. Было все необходимое для комфорта и уюта. Персонал был очень отзывчивым и дали подробные инструкции как заселиться в апартаменты. Мы с радостью вернёмся сюда снова.

  Molto bella la posizione con splendida vista sul porto. Camere molto comode. Appartamento ben tenuto. WiFi e aria condizionata ben funzionanti.
  
  What could be improved: L'impatto del palazzo non è il massimo. Dall'androne delle scale ti sembra di entrare in un postaccio, ma è solo l'impatto iniziale, per fortuna poi l'appartamento è bello.

  Durchschnittliches Apartment mit wunderschönem Blick auf den Hafen!
  Der Check in war super vorbeireitet und das Apartment war sehr sauber. Alle Räume hatten eine gute Größe und die Küche war mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht! Das Bad war im Gegensatz zum Rest der Wohnung frisch renoviert! Die Garage war super!
  
  What could be improved: Die Lage der Unterkunft ist eher gewöhnungsbedürftig, das Haus macht von außen einen heruntergekommen Eindruck, die Wohnung selber wirkte an einigen Ecken schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen, vieles war notdürftig eingerichtet.
