Look, I've stayed in plenty of Dubrovnik apartments over the years, and Studio Apartment Ana N is honestly one of those places that gets it right.
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Dubrovnik apartments over the years, and Studio Apartment Ana N is honestly one of those places that gets it right. It’s tucked away on Ulica Vatroslava Lisinskog – you know, that street that curves up from the main drag where all the tour buses rumble past. The thing is, once you’re inside, you’d never know the Old Town crowds are just a 10-minute walk downhill.
Ana (the owner) actually lives nearby, which makes a huge difference when you need something. Check-in was refreshingly smooth – none of that “meet me at a random corner with a vague landmark” nonsense you sometimes get with local rentals. The studio itself is what I’d call thoughtfully compact. Everything’s there without feeling cramped, and honestly, the bed was way more comfortable than I expected. There’s this little kitchenette that’s actually functional (I mean, you can cook real meals, not just heat up leftovers), plus the bathroom has decent water pressure – trust me, that’s not always a given in Croatian apartments. The WiFi worked perfectly, which matters if you’re trying to upload those sunset photos from the city walls.
What really sold me on the place was the neighborhood vibe. You’re far enough from Stradun to avoid the cruise ship chaos, but close enough that you can still grab morning coffee at that little place near Pile Gate before the crowds hit. The street gets some traffic during the day, but it’s surprisingly quiet at night – I actually slept better here than at some of the “luxury” hotels I’ve tried in the area. Plus, there’s a decent grocery store about three blocks away, and the woman who runs it remembers regulars (Ana probably sent me there). The apartment gets good natural light in the mornings, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week. I mean, the decor won’t win any design awards, but it’s clean and comfortable, and the AC works well during those brutal August afternoons. You know what impressed me most? The little touches – good hangers in the closet, enough towels, a hairdryer that doesn’t sound like it’s dying. It’s the kind of place where someone clearly thought about what travelers actually need.
