Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Dubrovnik’s Old Town, and Superior room A Cappella genuinely surprised me. The location on Ulica Marojice Kaboge is honestly perfect – you’re right in the thick of things but somehow tucked away from the main tourist stampede that thunders down Stradun every morning. I mean, you can literally walk to the city walls in about three minutes, but you won’t hear drunk tourists singing at 2 AM either.

The room itself has this sort of understated elegance that actually works. None of that over-the-top Croatian coastal kitsch you get in some places – just clean lines, decent space (which is rare in Old Town, trust me), and windows that actually open properly. The air conditioning works well too, which you’ll appreciate if you’re visiting between June and September when Dubrovnik turns into a beautiful stone oven. What really got me was the attention to small details – proper reading lights, enough outlets for your devices, and a bathroom that doesn’t require you to be a contortionist to shower. The bed was genuinely comfortable, not just “good enough for a few nights” comfortable.

You know what I loved most? The morning routine here. There’s this little café about thirty seconds away where locals grab their coffee – not the tourist traps charging €5 for mediocre espresso, but the real deal where you can practice your Croatian with the owner. The street itself wakes up slowly, so you get this lovely golden hour light filtering through the limestone buildings before the cruise ship crowds arrive around 9 AM. Parking is always a nightmare in Old Town (honestly, just use the Gruž harbor lot and walk), but the hotel staff actually knows which spots might be available on nearby streets – they’re not just making vague gestures like some places do. The 8.8 rating makes sense once you’ve been there; it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it nails everything that matters when you’re exploring Dubrovnik. The location means you can duck back for a midday break when the summer heat gets brutal, then head out again for dinner without dealing with shuttle buses or long walks up those killer stone steps.
