The entrance is intimate rather than grand, which honestly works better in this medieval setting where massive lobbies would feel completely out of place.

Here’s the thing about staying in Dubrovnik’s Old Town — location is absolutely everything, and The Palace 44 nailed it. You’re literally steps from Stradun, the main pedestrian street, but tucked away enough that you won’t hear every tour group walking by at dawn. I could walk to the city walls in about three minutes, and the harbor area where all the Game of Thrones tours start is maybe a five-minute stroll. What I really appreciated was being able to duck back to the hotel during the midday heat without that exhausting trek most visitors face from hotels outside the walls.
