Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, and honestly? Most of them feel like you’re sleeping in a medieval dungeon or some overly precious boutique nightmare. Velut Home Bokun is different – it’s tucked away on Ulica Između Polača, which is basically this narrow little street that most tourists never find because they’re too busy following the crowds toward the main drag. You know what I mean? It’s one of those addresses that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something.

The thing about this place is that it actually feels like a home – not in that fake “home away from home” way hotels always claim, but genuinely. I mean, when you’re dealing with Old Town Dubrovnik, you’re talking about buildings that have been around since before Columbus got lost, so there’s always this question of whether you’ll end up somewhere that’s been properly updated or if you’ll be dealing with wonky plumbing and walls so thin you can hear your neighbor’s entire phone conversation with their mother. Here, though, they’ve managed to keep all the character (those stone walls, the way the light filters through the windows) while making sure everything actually works. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, the shower has decent pressure, and – this is huge – the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing on the roof.

What really gets me is the location. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Stradun, but you’re far enough off the beaten path that you’re not dealing with the tour groups at 7 AM or the drunk backpackers stumbling home at 2 AM. I stayed here in July (which, let’s be honest, is basically tourist hell month in Dubrovnik), and I could still open my windows at night without feeling like I was camping in the middle of a street festival. The street itself is quiet – you’ll hear the occasional local heading to work in the morning, maybe some kids playing, but that’s it. And parking? Well, you’re not parking anywhere in the Old Town anyway, so you’ll be using the Ilijina Glavica lot like everyone else, but at least from Velut Home you can actually wheel your suitcase to the entrance without feeling like you’re training for a marathon.

The hosts clearly know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they gave me actual useful recommendations (not just “visit the walls!” like every other place), and when I had a question about late-night food options, they pointed me toward this little konoba that I never would have found otherwise. The whole experience just felt… effortless, I guess? Like they’ve figured out how to make staying in a 600-year-old city feel comfortable instead of like you’re roughing it for the sake of atmosphere. With a 9.7 rating, I wasn’t surprised that other guests seemed to get it too – you could tell people were genuinely happy to be there, not just making the best of it.

  The apartment is very recently renovated, luxurious, spacious and a great detail is given to the interior design. The building is very centrally situated near the main road of old town, which also means that you don't have to climb a lot of stairs in order to get there (compared to buildings towards the walls). The apartment is on the third floor though (and obviously no elevators at the old town in general) but that wasn't an issue for us.
  Željka and Marko are very nice and cheerful people and helped us a lot with recommendations. Thank you also for giving us the option to leave our luggage there until the room was ready for check-in, which gave us a very good head start for the initial city exploration

  Velut Home Bokun ist ein wahres Juwel im Herzen von Dubrovnik. Dieses Apartment übertrifft einfach alles, was man von einer Unterkunft erwarten kann – es ist nicht nur ein Ort zum Übernachten, sondern ein Erlebnis! Die Einrichtung ist äußerst stilvoll, modern und gleichzeitig unglaublich gemütlich – mit einer Liebe zum Detail, die absolut in jeder Ecke spürbar ist. Es fühlt sich an, als ob man in einem exklusiven Boutique-Hotel wohnt, das keine Wünsche offenlässt.
  Die Sauberkeit und der Komfort sind auf höchstem Niveau – das Apartment ist tadellos gepflegt und makellos sauber, was für uns ein entscheidender Faktor ist.
  Die Lage ist einfach unschlagbar: mitten in der Altstadt von Dubrovnik, nur wenige Schritte vom Stradun entfernt.
  Der Aufstieg in den dritten Stock ist absolut unproblematisch und wird mit einem Apartment belohnt, das in jeder Hinsicht außergewöhnlich ist.
  Die Gastgeberin Zeljka und ihr Mann verdienen ebenfalls ein besonderes Lob. Ihre Gastfreundschaft war unübertroffen – sie waren stets erreichbar und unglaublich hilfsbereit. Ihr Engagement und ihre Herzlichkeit haben uns das Gefühl gegeben, wirklich willkommen zu sein.
  Gebe es die Möglichkeit mehrere Sterne sogar Zusatzsterne zu vergeben, dann würde ich das ohne lange darüber nachzudenken, machen! ABSOLUT EMPFEHLENSWERT!

  Prekrasan smještaj na najboljoj lokaciji u Dubrovniku! Soba se nalazi na Stradunu, tik do crkve sv. Vlaha, ali je lijepo locirana da su mir i tišina za odmor zagarantirani. Prekrasno uređeno, iznimno čisto, sa svim potrebnim sitnicama za ugodan boravak (udoban krevet, fina kava, kozmetika u kupaonici). Domaćini iznimno susretljivi, opet ćemo izabrati Velut home kad ćemo dolaziti u Dubrovnik!
