Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address on Crijevićeva ulica, I had to double-check I was in the right spot. This little street in Old Town is basically tucked away where most tourists never wander, which is exactly why Villa Madonna della Strada works so well. You’re literally living inside Dubrovnik’s ancient walls, but without the constant stream of cruise ship crowds that mob the main drag. The apartment itself sits in one of those gorgeous stone buildings that’s probably older than most countries – you know, the kind where the walls are thick enough that you actually get some peace and quiet even during peak summer madness.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to blend the old-world charm with stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. I mean, the WiFi works (miracle in these old stone buildings), there’s proper air conditioning – which, trust me, you’ll need in July – and the bathroom doesn’t feel like you’re showering in a medieval dungeon. The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Dubrovnik like a local rather than just hitting the Instagram spots. You’re a two-minute walk from Prijeko Street where the locals actually eat, and close enough to the city walls that you can beat the morning crowds but far enough that you won’t hear every tour guide’s spiel about Game of Thrones.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I went – parking is going to be your biggest headache, so either arrange something with the property or be prepared to haul your luggage up from Pile Gate. It’s not terrible, maybe a five-minute walk, but those cobblestones and suitcase wheels don’t exactly get along. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward though, none of that awkward “meet me at the café next to the thing” that you get with some Old Town places. You know what really impressed me? The little details that show someone actually cares about this place – proper blackout curtains (essential when the summer sun rises at 5 AM), enough outlets near the bed for all your devices, and a kitchen that’s small but totally functional if you want to grab some pršut and cheese from the morning market. The 8.9 rating makes complete sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be some fancy resort, it’s just a really solid place to stay in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, run by people who get what travelers actually need.

Ana is a super kind host. Easy to get in contact via whatsapp, gave directions before we got there and was available when we had questions. The apartment is tidy. It's located close to a supermarket and the old town center.
What could be improved: For me it wasn't a problem but it's a lot of stairs to get to the property.Barry from United Kingdom – 9 June 2024 (9/10)
Location and cleanliness was fantastic, communication with Ana was brilliant and prompt on replying on accessing the apartment. Definitely would recommend this apartment.

Very well located studio inside the old town. I was really well received by Toma that went to wait for me next to one of the Main Gates of the City. The studio was very clean and comfortable. Perfect if you want to stay in the heart of the old town.

The location is incredible. Fantastic host and support getting our bags and finding the location. Breakfast included at a local restaurant was a plus. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this flat.

the Best breakfast i’ve ever had in any booking place i have beingCamilla from United Kingdom – 6 June 2023 (9/10)
Amazing location, breakfast at cafe nearby included, wonderful host who sent someone to meet us and bring us to the property and was available on WhatsApp for any questions, nice apartment with almost everything you need.
What could be improved: My only negative about the property is they don’t provide an iron. they offer a service but at €1.50 per item, I would have much preferred a shared iron as with previous apartments I’ve stayed at in Croatia.
The apartment is also very small, with a quirky layout, but we expected that from the photos.
