Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first walked up to Villa Mirabilis – I mean, you hear “villa” and sometimes that just means someone’s fancy apartment, you know? But this place actually lives up to the name. It’s tucked away on Hranjca street, which is basically this tiny cobblestone lane that most tourists miss because they’re all rushing toward the main drag. The building itself has that weathered Dubrovnik stone that looks like it’s been there forever (probably has), but inside it’s been done up beautifully without losing any of that old-world character. The floors are this gorgeous polished stone that stays cool even in summer, and the windows – well, they’re the kind that actually open wide to let in those sea breezes that make the whole Old Town bearable in July.
What really got me was how quiet it is at night. I’ve stayed in other places within the city walls where you’re basically listening to drunk tourists stumble past your window until 3 AM, but Hranjca is just off the beaten path enough that you actually get to sleep. During the day though, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Stradun – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and maybe five minutes from the city walls if you want to do the whole walk-around-the-ramparts thing. The woman at check-in (I think she was the owner?) knew exactly which restaurants to avoid and which ones locals actually go to, which honestly saved me from a lot of tourist trap meals. She also warned me about the church bells – they start early, but after the first morning you sort of tune them out, and there’s something kind of magical about waking up to them anyway.
The room itself was bigger than I expected, with these thick stone walls that keep everything cool and quiet. The bathroom was modern without being jarring, and the bed was actually comfortable – not always a given in historic buildings, let me tell you. There’s no air conditioning, but with the stone walls and the way the windows are positioned to catch the cross-breeze, I didn’t really miss it except for maybe one really hot afternoon. The whole place just feels… substantial, I guess? Like it’s been here watching over the Adriatic for centuries and will be here long after we’re all gone. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentically Dubrovnik without sacrificing comfort, and you don’t mind climbing a few stone steps (it’s Croatia, there are always stone steps), this is exactly what you want. Just don’t expect to find it easily on your first try – bring a good map or screenshot the directions, because these old streets don’t exactly follow logic.

The property was absolutely amazing in a perfect location. We loved all the living space, the ability to cook and relax on the patio.

Nikolina was the best. She made check in effortless. Met us punctually at the location specified. Took us to the Villa. Excellent intro to the magnificent villa and extremely helpful with tips on where to eat and what to see. The best experience we have had.
The villa is amazing. Clean, spacious and well equipped including hair dryer!. We visited during a heat wave, so the air con was well received. rhe complementary bottle of red was a nice touch and was a great bottle too. Fantastic location.
There is so much to do in the Old Town and so much food choice, we didn't get to use the kitchen for cooking.
We were there 4 nights but not enough. A longer stay and we would have used the villa facilities more.
Nikolina was also very accommodating to allow us a later check out.
Highly recommended.
What could be improved: Not much. Only that the wifi does not reach to ground floor toilet. That may be good or bad, depending on your viewpoint.Meenakshi from Australia – 22 May 2024 (10/10)
This Villa is STUNNING! It is very spacious and easily accommodated me, my husband and my mother. The kitchen is well provided for so we could actually cook. The bedrooms were really comfortable and it was fantastic having the two bathrooms and good quality washing machine. Everything had been thought about (including hair-dryers in each bedroom!). Really adding to the specialness of this place is the property host, Nikolina, who was just amazing in supporting us during our 5 night stay, organising our day trip to montenegro, porters transfers, doctors and really great restaurant recommendations.
What could be improved: As is the case everywhere in the old town, there are a lot of stairs internally. There are also quite a few stairs to get to the apartment, so I highly recommend using porters if you have heavy luggage – makes life a lot easier.Alina from United States – 21 April 2024 (10/10)
Excellent location just minutes from center of Old Town; beware many steps if you have luggage but it’s the norm with many in that area. Gorgeous apartment. Immaculately clean. Beautifully decorated. Very comfortable beds. Nikolina, at check in, was lovely and very helpful. Will return!

Villa Mirabilis was a beautiful apartment in the heart of the old town of Dubrovnik. The living room on the top floor was absolutely gorgeous and beautifully decorated. A well-equipped kitchen, an excellent sound system for playing music, air conditioning… Everything was just perfectly thought out. The beds were very good (not too soft) and the duvets and duvet covers were a big plus! Our hostess Nikolina was very pleasant and she gave us many good tips about the city. Everything was just perfect, we couldn't be happier! A big recommendation for this accommodation!

Location was perfect. We met the host easily at the base of the Jesuit steps and she showed us to the apartment. There are a lot of steps but you can't get anywhere in Dubrovnik without that.
What could be improved: One of the bedrooms had a mirrored wardrobe however there were no mirrors in the other bedroom. I think adding a mirror or two would be helpful for getting ready if others are using the bathroom.Bronwyn from South Africa – 2 July 2023 (10/10)
