You know what caught me off guard about 22 The Stradun? I was expecting another cramped Old Town hotel where you can hear every footstep through paper-thin walls, but this place actually feels substantial. The moment you step inside from that busy pedestrian street – honestly, Između Polača gets pretty hectic during peak season – there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in Dubrovnik’s historic center.

The location is ridiculously good, and I mean that in the best way. You’re literally steps from the main Stradun thoroughfare (hence the name, obviously), but tucked just enough off the beaten path that you won’t have tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM. I stayed here in July – terrible timing, I know – and while the old town was absolutely packed, this little street felt like a secret. The staff mentioned they get a lot of repeat visitors, which makes sense once you realize how rare it is to find a place that’s both central and actually peaceful. The rooms have that boutique hotel feel without trying too hard, if that makes sense. Some of the windows look out toward the harbor area, and honestly, watching the morning light hit those terracotta rooftops never got old.

What really won me over was the practical stuff nobody talks about in those glossy travel magazines. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building – not a given in these medieval stone walls, trust me. Check-in was smooth even though I showed up during the afternoon rush when half of Dubrovnik seems to be changing hotels. The guy at reception gave me genuinely useful tips about timing my visit to the city walls (go late afternoon, skip the morning crowds) and pointed me toward this little wine bar on Prijeko that I never would have found otherwise. Sure, it’s a 4-star place with a 7.8 rating, so it’s not perfect – the bathroom in my room was a bit cramped, and you can definitely hear some street noise if you’re a light sleeper. But honestly? For what you get in this location, especially considering how impossible it is to find decent accommodation inside the old walls, I’d book it again without hesitation. The whole experience just felt… comfortable, I guess. Like staying with a friend who happens to live in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

  Unbeatable location in the heart of Dubrovnik. Ot can get a bit noisy at night or early in the AM but it didn’t bother us, however if you a light sleep it may bother you. Spacious apartment, comfortable for 6 people. As expected from old towns, you need to negotiate 3 flights of stairs but that’s typical of old towns such as Dubrovnik The owner was very friendly and allowed us to leave our luggage in the apartment for 2 hrs after the check out. We would definitely stay here again

  What could be improved: No plugs for sink or basin, no tea towels, not enough wine glasses barely enough toilet paper, most of the TV channels were locked out by parental control, no PIN number provided. The “third bedroom” was two small single beds in an attic with low head room. The photos did not depict the steepness of the stairs. Nevertheless it was in a fantastic location, the host was very helpful and accommodating.

  Really excellent location in the middle of old town, beautiful apartment, aircon, and we found beach towels in a cupboard. Azra was very helpful – she gave us information about excursions, let us leave our bags in the apartment after check out and arranged reliable transports to/from the airport.
  
  What could be improved: Because of the central location, it can be noisy at night – bring ear plugs or sleep on the top level if you're sensitive to that!

  The apartment is in a great location within the old town. The apartment is spacious and has most amenities.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is set over 5 levels including the entrance. The stairs are difficult and I would say require caution. The beds are terrible. I slept in the bed in the first bedroom, it was like concrete. It’s not a standard mattress. The pillow was flat, it would be better if guests were provided with two decent pillows. Despite the superb location and lovely living area in this apartment I would not stay here again because of the beds.

  What could be improved: The stairs were unsafe, particularly going up to the attic room with the two twin beds. There was no handrail and it was extremely dangerous. The other sets of stairs were steep and difficult to navigate. For anyone with any significant luggage, this would not be the place to stay.
