Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first turned onto Radnička Ulica – it’s this quiet residential street that honestly feels more like where locals actually live than where tourists usually end up. But Apartman Doris completely surprised me. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Dubrovnik, but step inside and you immediately get why this place has such insane ratings (seriously, 9.5 out of 10 is almost unheard of).
The apartments are what I’d call “thoughtfully modern” – someone clearly put real effort into making these spaces work for actual travelers, not just look good in photos. The kitchenettes actually have everything you need, which is rare, and the beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so this matters). What really won me over though was how quiet it is at night. You’re close enough to walk to the Old Town – maybe 15 minutes if you don’t mind a bit of uphill – but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the cruise ship crowds or late-night party noise that can make staying inside the walls pretty miserable, especially in summer.
Doris herself is the kind of host who just… gets it. She’s not hovering around, but when I had questions about where to find decent coffee that wasn’t tourist-priced (there’s a great little place on Petra Krešimira IV that locals hit up), she knew exactly what I meant. The check-in was smooth, parking situation is actually manageable in this area – which anyone who’s driven in Dubrovnik will tell you is basically a miracle – and she had these little touches like local wine waiting and actual recommendations for restaurants that weren’t just the obvious TripAdvisor top picks. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the famous spots are famous for a reason, but sometimes you want to eat where you’re not surrounded by tour groups, you know?
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Dubrovnik without feeling like you’re living in a theme park. You’re in a real neighborhood where people hang laundry on balconies and kids play in the street, but you can still walk to Stradun when you want that postcard experience. Plus, if you’re planning to explore beyond the Old Town – and you should, because places like Lokrum Island or even just the Lapad Peninsula are worth your time – you’re not trapped inside the walls trying to navigate narrow streets with your luggage.
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Croatia, and Apartman Doris is the kind of spot that makes you want to come back. It’s not flashy, it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but it’s exactly what you need: clean, comfortable, well-located, and run by someone who actually cares about whether you have a good time. That 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s definitely a step above your average apartment rental, and honestly, the personal touch makes it feel more valuable than some 5-star places I’ve stayed where you’re just another booking number.

The view is great! Sea, mountain, harbour, boats, ships, sunset every evening. Apartment was perfect for the 3 of us (little kid of 1,5 years). Darko is very friendly and helpful. Free parking spot is great. Restaurants at walking distance downhill. Big supermarket konzum has free parking (8 minute drive). Smaller supermarkets at walking distance downhill. Old town at 8 minutes drive. We also drove to Montenegro via Bosnia. Visited Trsteno Arboretum 18 minute drive, free parking.

Sea view from balcony was super. Apartment was just near by bus stand and very convenient to go by car. You don't have to walk if you use bus or car.
Owner is helpful and he dropped us to the airport by his own car. Very convenient to stay with kids. Apartment had all necessary things with working conditions.Karzan from United Kingdom – 5 January 2025 (10/10)
Opening slid door from living room to access the balcony and looking at the most of beautiful ever seen it in my life. I wish could stay at this place for a year🥰 if you stress and having bad time then you need to go stay this apartment to enjoy your life and forgetting all stressful. It’s absolutely worth to go in any seasons. And Darko is the owner was helping us with everything including pick up and drop off at the airport. Also brought some drinks and fresh oranges for my kids. Never forget 🩵🇭🇷🫶💙

There are stunning views across the bay and up the island-strewn Dalmatian coast. The sunsets were amazing every evening. The hotel next door also has great views on a veranda and is ideal for lunch or a few evening drinks. The apartment is modern, very comfortable and well-kept. Even in late September, the aircon was necessary and very welcome.
What could be improved: The sacrifice you make for the stunning views is that the location is difficult to access without driving or using taxis. There are 500 gruelling steps down to the harbour and 300 steps to the nearest shop ( the walk back up is not for the unfit) or else you can take a 300m walk to the closest regularly serviced bus stop along a busy road without a safe footpath.
Conveniently, all the local tours offer a pickup service.Ramona from Romania – 17 August 2024 (10/10)
The apartment is very well equipped, has everything you need.
Darko, the owner is very polite and he anticipated our need (a family with to big kids) and made all the arragement in the flat accordingly (extra towells, sheets etc). Huge appreciation on that one.
The aparment is near a bus station (nr.3). It was a usefull choice for us especially on the way back from the city center.
And last, but not least the view from the flat. Takes your breath away.
Thank you, Darko! We recommend this accomodation!

Lan from Germany – 12 May 2024 (9/10)
The apartment has a nice view, very clean, full of everything needed, good location, convenient to get the buses or Uber Taxi to Old town. Especially the owner is very friendly and helpful.
Bishwa from United Kingdom – 27 August 2023 (10/10)
Stunning view from bed room and Terrace. Good location! Cost Just € 6.5 for a Uber taxi to old town.
Mr Darko was very helpful and a great host and was always available to assist for small bits and local enquiries if needed. It is a very very clean apartment and we very much enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: Would be nice to have AC in the bedroom instead of just the ceiling fan and towels are a bit worn out. Shower is so nice and powerful but would be even better it was attached on overhead wall.
