Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Dubrovnik over the years, and Apartman K&M on Biokovska ulica is honestly one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve cracked some local code. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential street that most tourists never even see – you know, the kind of spot where you’ll hear roosters in the morning (yes, really, even though you’re basically in the city) and where locals actually hang their laundry on balconies.

The thing about this place is that K&M – I’m assuming those are the owners’ initials – really get what travelers actually need. The apartment itself feels lived-in in the best possible way, not like some sterile rental where you’re afraid to touch anything. There’s this lovely little balcony where I’d sit with my morning coffee, watching the neighborhood wake up slowly. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters when you want to grab some of those incredible tomatoes from the market and actually do something with them. And honestly? The WiFi is solid, the shower pressure is what you’d hope for after walking those stone streets all day, and the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with Croatian limestone all night.

What really sold me on this place is the location – you’re about a 15-minute walk to the Old Town, which means you avoid the cruise ship crowds in the morning but can still easily wander down for dinner. The walk takes you through some really charming neighborhoods where you’ll see how people actually live in Dubrovnik, not just the postcard version. There’s a little bakery called Dubrovnik on the way (locals just call it “the bread place”) where you can grab pastries that are still warm. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area – I mean, it’s Croatia, parking is always an adventure – but there are spots if you’re patient. The hosts were genuinely helpful about this stuff, actually walking me to show me the best streets to try. That kind of personal touch is what you remember long after you’ve forgotten whether the towels were fluffy enough.
