Walking through the narrow stone streets of Dubrovnik’s Old Town to find Apartman Mama Marija feels like you’re heading to a friend’s place rather than a typical hotel. The building sits right on Nalješkovićeva ulica, and honestly, you can’t get more central than this — I mean, you’re literally in the heart of everything that makes Dubrovnik magical. The entrance might seem modest at first, but that’s exactly what I love about this place. It doesn’t try to impress you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top decorations.
What really struck me about the location is how you can step outside and immediately feel the pulse of the old city. You know those tourist spots where you’re either too far from everything or stuck in a complete tourist trap? Well, this isn’t that. The apartment puts you right where locals actually walk through daily, yet you’re still just a few minutes from Stradun and all the main sights. Couples seem to absolutely love it here — and I get why. There’s something romantic about wandering these ancient streets and then having your own little retreat to come back to.
The space itself feels more like staying at a Croatian grandmother’s house than a commercial property — and I mean that in the best possible way. Everything you need is there, from a functional kitchen to comfortable sleeping arrangements. The room has that authentic Dubrovnik character with stone walls and traditional touches, but it’s been updated enough that you’re not roughing it. Actually, the whole setup works perfectly if you want to grab fresh ingredients from the morning market and prepare your own meals sometimes.
Here’s what I really appreciated — you get to experience Dubrovnik the way it’s meant to be experienced. Instead of being shuttled around in tourist buses, you’re walking the same paths that people have used for centuries. The morning light filtering through the Old Town streets, the sound of church bells, the smell of coffee from nearby cafés — it all becomes part of your daily routine. You’ll find yourself taking different routes each time you head out, discovering little corners and viewpoints that most visitors miss entirely.
The location score speaks for itself, but what really makes Apartman Mama Marija special is how it lets you be part of the city rather than just observing it. You’re not dealing with crowded hotel lobbies or fighting for parking spaces — you just slip into the rhythm of Old Town life. The value is incredible too, especially when you consider you’re getting your own space in one of Europe’s most stunning historic centers. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even left.

We really enjoyed staying in the apartment. The property was clean and beautifully decorated. Very close to the Main Street. Very comfortable.

Would definitely stay again, great place for couples, singles or small family. Loved this place near the centre of the old town in a beautiful setting. Its a large apartment with plenty of space and comfort. The bed is great and the whole place was perfect for my stay. The owner, lovely bloke from the town and it was a great welcome with some locals beers etc. Really enjoyed my time.

Exceptional Great location. Excellent host, with lots of helpful directions to find it, and always available to answer any questions. Fabulous little duplex apartment with a bit more space than we were expecting. Be prepared to walk up and down a few steps to explore the town and reach the apartment - that's not a complaint, it's just the nature of the Old Town.

The bright green light at night in the bedroom which is security feature and mandatory .

Beautiful apartment in Dubrovnik's old town Location was great. In the Old Town but well away from the noise of the central square and main streets. Plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk.
Be prepared for plenty of steps though, the property is at almost the highest point of the old town.
