The building itself is pretty typical Croatian coastal architecture, nothing fancy, but when you step inside… well, it’s clear someone actually put thought into making this feel like a home rather than just another rental.

The apartment genuinely lives up to that 8.5 rating, and I’m usually pretty skeptical of those numbers. What really got me was the attention to small details – like, there’s actually good water pressure in the shower (trust me, this matters more than you think in older Croatian buildings), and the kitchen has those little touches that suggest the owners cook there themselves. Real olive oil, decent knives, a coffee maker that doesn’t look like it came from a flea market. The bedroom faces away from the street, which means you avoid the early morning delivery trucks that seem to rumble through every neighborhood in Dubrovnik around 6 AM. I mean, you’ll still hear the seagulls – they’re everywhere and honestly quite charming once you get used to their morning conversations.

What makes this place special though is the location knowledge you get just by staying here. The owner (or maybe it was the person who handed over the keys – super friendly either way) mentioned this little bakery around the corner that locals actually use, not the tourist traps near Stradun. And honestly, being on Buića puts you in walking distance of Banje Beach without having to trek through the fortress crowds every time you want to swim. The beach gets packed during peak season – I’m talking shoulder-to-shoulder packed – but early morning or late afternoon, it’s actually pretty lovely. The water’s that ridiculous Mediterranean blue that makes you understand why people write poetry about this stuff. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare in summer (like everywhere in Dubrovnik), but there’s usually something available if you’re willing to walk a few minutes. The whole setup just feels more authentic than staying inside the Old Town walls, where you’re basically living in a museum after 8 PM when all the day-trippers leave.
