It’s tucked away on Don Iva Bjelokosicća street, and honestly, I walked past it twice before realizing this unassuming building housed one of the better places I’ve stayed in Dubrovnik. The location is actually perfect – you’re about a 10-minute walk from Pile Gate (the main entrance to Old Town), but far enough away that you won’t hear the cruise ship crowds stumbling back at midnight. The neighborhood feels properly Croatian, not like those touristy areas where every other storefront is selling “I Heart Dubrovnik” t-shirts.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel – I mean that in the best way possible. It’s got that clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and the owner clearly thought about what travelers actually need. The kitchen has real cooking equipment (not just a sad hot plate), the WiFi actually works throughout the space, and there’s decent storage so you’re not living out of your suitcase. The bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that makes you want to stay in longer than you should. What really got me was the attention to details – proper blackout curtains (crucial if you’re jet-lagged), good water pressure, and outlets where you actually need them. The air conditioning works quietly too, which matters more than you’d think during those sticky Adriatic summer nights.

Here’s the thing about staying here though – you’ll need to be okay with a bit of a hill walk. Dubrovnik isn’t flat anywhere, but this street has some incline to it. Not terrible, but after a long day exploring the city walls, you’ll definitely feel it in your legs. The flip side is that you’re positioned perfectly to explore beyond just the Old Town. There’s a decent grocery store about 5 minutes away (Konzum, if you’re keeping track), and you’re actually closer to some of the local restaurants where Dubrovnik residents eat, not just tourists. The whole area gets this lovely evening breeze from the sea, and it’s genuinely peaceful – you can hear church bells in the distance rather than street noise. Parking can be tricky in this part of town, but the owner provided clear instructions, and honestly, you probably won’t need a car anyway. That 9.3 rating makes total sense when you stay here – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really, really good at being exactly what you need in Dubrovnik.
