You know what? When I first walked up to Apartment Marijana on Ulica kneza Branimira, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s tucked into this residential street in Lapad – not exactly where you’d picture staying in Dubrovnik, but that actually turned out to be the whole point. While everyone else is crammed into the Old Town dealing with cruise ship crowds and paying tourist prices for everything, you’re in this quiet neighborhood where locals actually live.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – I mean, it’s a solid 3-star setup, nothing fancy but everything works. Marijana (yeah, it’s family-run) was super helpful during check-in, and she actually gave me this whole rundown of the bus routes into town. Turns out the number 6 stops right at the end of the street and drops you at Pile Gate in maybe 15 minutes. The apartment’s got that slightly dated European feel – think functional furniture and basic kitchen setup – but honestly, the bed was comfortable and the AC worked perfectly during those sweltering July afternoons. There’s even a little balcony where you can have your morning coffee without tourists walking by taking photos of you eating breakfast.

What really won me over was the location, though. Lapad Peninsula is where Dubrovnik locals go to escape the madness, and you’re literally a five-minute walk from Lapad Beach. Not the rocky, crowded spots near the city walls – this is an actual sandy beach with clear water and reasonable prices at the beach bars. In the evenings, I’d walk down to the Lapad promenade where there are all these family-run restaurants serving fresh fish without the Old Town markup. The whole area quiets down after 10 PM, which was perfect for sleeping – no late-night revelers stumbling past your window. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (street parking only), but most people take the bus or walk anyway. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s clean, affordable, and puts you in a part of Dubrovnik that most tourists never discover. If you want to experience the city like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through, this little apartment is honestly a great base.

  Good location, it's in the middle of Dubrovnik port and Old town. Both will take about 15min. to walk. It's a lot of stairs and up-and-down walks, so for those who doesn't like it – bus or uber taxi :).
