First thing you notice walking up is how quiet this street is, especially compared to the tourist chaos closer to the Old Town. I mean, you’re still only about a 15-minute walk from Pile Gate, but it feels like you’ve escaped to where actual locals live. The apartment itself has this homey Croatian charm – not fancy, but everything works perfectly and someone clearly cares about the details. The owner (I think her name was Marija?) left these little touches that made it feel personal, like local coffee in the kitchen and actually useful recommendations written by hand, not some generic printout. The shower pressure was surprisingly good too – always a gamble in older Croatian buildings.

What really won me over was the practical stuff that matters when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The kitchen had proper equipment, not just the bare minimum most places give you. There’s a little balcony where you can have morning coffee while listening to the neighborhood wake up – dogs barking, someone’s grandmother hanging laundry, that sort of authentic slice of life you can’t get in a hotel. Parking was… well, it’s Dubrovnik, so street parking is what it is, but the location means you’re not fighting tour buses for space. I actually ended up walking everywhere once I settled in.

The bed was comfortable (firm, the way I like it), and honestly, the whole place just felt clean and well-maintained without being sterile. You know what I mean? Like someone’s favorite aunt prepared it for you. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which saved me during a work call emergency – always a relief when you’re traveling. The only minor thing was that the walls are a bit thin, so you might hear your neighbors occasionally, but nothing that kept me awake.
