Apartment Sorta Overview
You know what’s funny about Apartment Sorta? The name actually makes perfect sense once you get there – it’s sort of an apartment, sort of a hotel, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. I mean, you’re right there on Od Šorte street in the heart of Old Town, which sounds like they named the street after the place, but it’s actually the other way around. The whole setup feels like you’re staying in someone’s really well-appointed city apartment, except with proper hotel service and none of the awkwardness of actually imposing on a friend.
The location is pretty much unbeatable if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Stradun – that’s the main marble street everyone’s always posting photos of – and you can hear the morning bustle starting up around 8 AM when the cruise ship crowds begin their march through the old city. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: the stone walls are thick enough that you’re not dealing with the late-night party noise that hits some of the places closer to the main square. I actually slept really well, which was a pleasant surprise given how central everything is. The building itself has that weathered Dubrovnik limestone look that photographs beautifully, and the entrance is tucked away just enough that you feel like you’ve discovered something special.
What really sold me on the place was the attention to detail – the kind of stuff that shows someone actually thought about what travelers need. The WiFi is solid (crucial when you’re trying to upload all those sunset photos from the city walls), there’s proper air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, and the kitchenette is actually functional if you want to grab some cheese and wine from the morning market near Pile Gate. The bathroom products smell amazing – something citrusy that reminded me of the lemon trees growing in the monastery gardens nearby. Check-in was smooth, and the staff clearly knows the neighborhood well. They pointed me toward this little bakery about three streets over that I never would have found otherwise, and their burek was honestly better than anything I had at the touristy spots. The 8.2 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it nails everything it’s actually going for. If you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the old city and want a comfortable, authentic base that doesn’t break the bank, Apartment Sorta hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Apartment Sorta
Craig from Canada – 6 August 2024 (9/10)
The location was great and the apartment worked out very well for our family.
Victoria from United States – 10 May 2024 (9/10)
The location!
What could be improved: The apartment has a lot of steps and it turned out to be a challenge with our youngest.Kim from South Africa – 6 October 2023 (9/10)
Situated in the Old City. Spacious apartment that is clean and tastefully done.
What could be improved: Did struggle to find the apartment with a lot of stairs to climb with luggage. The shower in the bath was not great.Paul from Germany – 27 September 2023 (9/10)
Very nice and comfortable, and clean apartment. Spacious for 3 people staying. Was nice to be within the old town, so very close to everything (although be aware of lots of stairs if you’re arriving with luggage).
What could be improved: The shower is basically unusable without covering the entire bathroom with water. Seems like a simple way to fix it but for some reason it hasnt.Hollya from New Zealand – 22 September 2023 (9/10)
Really comfortable and well equipped, in a perfect location! Lots of stairs to get to the apartment but well-worth it, we loved our stay.
What could be improved: Slight leak in the shower which dropped through to the downstairs level, use the shower curtain.Barry from Australia – 29 August 2023 (9/10)
Very clean and comfortable. Location was close to the main area for restaurants and not far from the water front, although it is a bit of a climb up the steps to get to the apartment.
What could be improved: Lighting downstairs was a bit too subdued, especially in the kitchen/dining area. It was hard ginding the apartment on arrival even with Google Maps.Alex from Australia – 18 June 2023 (8/10)
great location in old town, spacious apartment
What could be improved: unfortunately, we had issues with the shower leaking but nothing we couldn’t handle.Tay from Singapore – 11 June 2023 (9/10)
Located within old town. 2-storey apartment so more space for the family.
What could be improved: Need strong arms and legs if you have big luggage to carry and climb up the steps. There is a small water leak from upper floor to the lower floor near the kitchen area, but largely did not bother us except for us to avoid the area.David from United Kingdom – 26 May 2023 (9/10)
great location , very clean and modern had everything we needed
What could be improved: use of shower was confined and spray hose hard to direct !Marcus from Australia – 10 May 2023 (8/10)
Location – convenient to everything in the Old town.
What could be improved: Not the fault of the host, but the airport shuttle drops of at the Ploce gate, which means you have to drag bags across town ( adds about another 2/300 meters)
