Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Apartments Dubrovnik Center? It’s actually quiet. I mean, you’re literally on Vicka Lovrina street in Ploče, which sounds like it should be chaos, but somehow it’s this peaceful little pocket just outside the Old Town madness. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Croatian apartment feel – not flashy, but you can tell it’s been thoughtfully converted for travelers who want something more than a hotel room.
The location is honestly perfect if you know Dubrovnik at all. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk to Pile Gate, but here’s the thing – you’re approaching from the east side, so you skip all those cruise ship crowds that flood in from the harbor. I loved that I could grab coffee at one of the little cafés along the way, then slip into the Old Town through the less touristy Ploče Gate. Plus, and this is huge in summer, you’re close enough to Banje Beach that you can actually walk there without melting in the heat. The apartment setups vary, but mine had this little kitchenette situation that was perfect for making morning coffee and storing those expensive Old Town groceries – because let’s be real, eating out for every meal in Dubrovnik gets pricey fast.
What really impressed me was how the owners (or whoever runs this place) actually seem to get what travelers need. The Wi-Fi works properly, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine, and – this might sound small but it’s not – the shower has decent water pressure. I’ve stayed in plenty of Croatian coastal places where that’s definitely not a given. The whole vibe is more like borrowing a local friend’s apartment than staying in tourist accommodation. During the day, you hear normal neighborhood sounds – people chatting, maybe some cooking smells drifting around – but at night it’s surprisingly peaceful. I think the 9.4 rating makes total sense because it’s one of those places that just works without any drama. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or fancy pools, but you’re getting a solid base in an amazing city where you can actually relax and recharge between all that wall-walking and fortress-climbing. If you’re the type who’d rather spend money on great dinners and day trips to the islands instead of hotel amenities you’ll barely use, this place gets it.

Steve met us and helped with luggage. Gave us refreshments and showed us some of the best things/places on a map of Dubrovnik. Great location outside city walls, and elevated so you get a great view of the city. We loved the huge terrace which we shared with 1 other apartment. It was very clean and our towels were replaced regularly. Walk into the city in around 6 mins with beautiful views along the way. Honestly wouldn’t stay anywhere else as a couple. Lots of the city apartments were in very narrow streets (well yes it’s Dubrovnik!) but as a result there would be no view and so many steps. I was really happy with our choice. We had some great chats with Steve who lived downstairs. We talked about the city its history, the war and so many other things. It was lovely to get to know lots more about the city from a local person. Thanks for sharing your experience Steve, we had a great holiday!
What could be improved: Nothing, it was exceptionalSharon from Canada – 1 May 2025 (9/10)
Considering that from the OLD CITY, everything is uphill…….we loved our location. We loved our patio overlooking the beach, boats and waterfront. Our hosts were very kind and considerate.
What could be improved: It was a bit smaller than we expected.Helen from Sweden – 21 April 2025 (9/10)
Quiet location perfectly located close to the beach and wall. Very nice view and terrace and comfortable bed.

Stijepo was a gracious host and provided so much information of the area. He is a very proud Dubrovnican and it shows as he lights up telling us about his beautiful city. The accommodation could not be better. The towels are changed every other day which was a lovely touch. There is so much in the apartment and there are 3 markets close by for the essentials. The view from the patio at the balcony is like a postcard. You have to see it to believe it’s real. Only 5 min walk to Ploce gate on the flat. Will definitely return.
What could be improved: Just maybe a dustpan and brush but that’s it. Everything else was provided. Had a fab stay!Susan from United Kingdom – 9 April 2025 (8/10)
The view sold me on it but it had everything I needed for a lovely break.
What could be improved: Only because I walked so much and climbed so many stairs, I found the one step up to the bedroom a bother because my legs were spent.Sidonie from Australia – 28 October 2024 (10/10)
The helpfulness of Stijepo, he was amazing the property was lovely

The friendly welcome and practical assistance we received from Stiyepo was fantastic. We sat down together over a drink ( even though we were early)and he pointed out places to visit and eat om a map of the city. He couldn't have been more helpful.
The location is perfect. Just above Banje Beach and a two minute walk to the old town. The view is spectacular.
