I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first pulled up to Apartments & Rooms Katarina on Korčulanska ulica – I mean, it’s this unassuming building tucked into a residential street in Lapad, and after all the glossy hotel photos you see online, you start to wonder. But here’s the thing about this place: it’s got that perfect balance of being away from the tourist madness while still being totally workable for exploring Dubrovnik. The Lapad peninsula is where a lot of locals actually live, so you’re getting morning coffee next to people heading to work rather than cruise ship crowds figuring out their selfie sticks.
What really got me was how quiet it actually is – and I’m someone who’s pretty sensitive to noise when I’m trying to sleep. The street itself is residential, mostly apartments and small guesthouses, so you’re not dealing with late-night bar crowds or early morning tour buses rumbling past your window. The rooms themselves are exactly what you’d expect from a well-run Croatian guesthouse: clean, functional, with that slightly old-school European vibe where everything works but nothing’s particularly fancy. I actually prefer this to those sterile chain hotels – there’s character here, you know? The kind of place where someone clearly cares about the details without obsessing over Instagram-worthy design.
The location thing is interesting because it’s not immediately obvious why Lapad works so well until you’ve been there a few days. Sure, you’re about a 20-minute walk from the Old Town (or a quick bus ride if you’re feeling lazy), but what you get in return is access to some decent beaches that aren’t completely overrun, plus real restaurants where locals eat instead of just tourist traps. There’s a grocery store basically around the corner, which honestly saved me a fortune compared to buying water and snacks in the Old Town. And if you’re planning to do any day trips – Lokrum Island, maybe Cavtat – the bus connections from Lapad are actually pretty convenient. The whole area has this lived-in feel that I found way more relaxing than staying right in the thick of things. Plus, and this might sound weird, but there’s something nice about coming “home” to a quieter neighborhood after a day of battling crowds at the city walls. With a 9.4 rating, I can see why people keep coming back here – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just solid, honest accommodation that gets the job done without any fuss.

Adriatic breeze Katarina was very nice and was present when we arrived. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. One of my favorite parts of the stay was the patio. It has a view of the ocean and a cool breeze that made sitting outside, great for conversation, or eating breakfast.
What could be improved: Space was a little tight.
Great host and location. Katarina was very helpful and she is often available when you need assistance. The property is nice and the Adriatic Sea view balcony was perfect for sun bathing and relaxing.
Our stay was spectacular. Just a 20 minute walk to old town, and stunning view. The terrace was amazing and our host was super sweet.
Exceptional Spacious, fabulous facilities with a beautiful view from the balcony. Location is roughly midway between the old town and the port / main bus terminal making all walkable. The facilities were top rate - nothing amiss.
What could be improved: Google took a cross country route to the property from the harbour - follow the main route.

Exceptional The property was very close to the beach, and you could leave all of your belongings in the room while you went swimming. The city centre and the old town is very accessible from the property. Also the host is super nice!
Good Location is perfect, amazing view and close to the seaside. City centre is 30 mi s walking or accessible by bus
What could be improved: I had expected to have an apartment, but it was actually a small room in somebody else house with no access to the kitchen. A mosquito net would have been ideal to keep the door open and avoid using AC
We will return The apartment was very clean, comfortable and spacious with a terrace looking over the Adriatic. Very short distance walk to swimming areas/beaches and access to neighboring hotel patio and pool. Katarina was a gracious hostess and very helpful.
Superb Really great apartment in a super location, it had all the facilities you need with a lovely balcony looking out to sea. The location is quiet and within easy reach of Old Town, Lapad and Grux. Katarina was a very welcoming host and helped us have a wonderful stay.
What could be improved: I didn't like leaving to go home 😔, would have liked to stay longer
