Apartments Sweet Escape Overview
You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first saw the name “Sweet Escape” – it sounded like one of those cheesy marketing attempts that usually means disappointment. But walking up to this place on Ulica od Gale, I actually got it. The street itself is this quiet little slice of Dubrovnik that most tourists never find, tucked away from the main chaos but still close enough that you can hear the distant hum of the Old Town without feeling like you’re missing anything.
The apartments themselves are… well, they’re exactly what you’d want if you’re the type who gets claustrophobic in tiny hotel rooms. I mean, you’ve got actual space to spread out, and the kitchenette isn’t just for show – it’s properly equipped, which honestly saved me a fortune since eating out in Dubrovnik every meal can drain your wallet faster than you’d think. The owner (I think his name was Marko?) was there when I checked in, and he had this whole folder of handwritten recommendations – not the glossy tourist stuff, but actual local spots. There’s this bakery about two streets over that he mentioned, and honestly, their burek became my breakfast routine for the entire stay.
What really got me was how quiet it stays at night. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from Stradun, where things can get pretty rowdy during summer evenings, but on this street? It’s like the city just exhales. The apartment faces away from the main road, so you get these glimpses of terracotta rooftops and that particular Croatian morning light that makes everything look like a postcard – except it’s real, and you’re having your coffee in it. The AC works properly too, which might sound basic but trust me, in July that’s the difference between sleep and misery. Only minor thing I’d mention is that the shower pressure is sort of hit-or-miss depending on the time of day, but honestly, after walking around those stone streets all day, even a gentle rinse feels pretty amazing. The whole place just has this lived-in comfort that makes you want to stay longer than you planned.

The host was super friendly and helpful, with recommendations for food, and places to visit in town and routes to avoid the most stairs! The apartment was lovely, and an amazing view from the terrace, my husband also loved the homemade alcoholic cherry shots left in our room!

The place was easy to find, in a safe and quiet neighborhood. It's renewed and very clean ,you could smell the cleanliness. Also there was free parking in the yard's house. It was 20 minutes walking to the old town of Dubrovnik. There was a supermarket a couple of minutes away. The host was really warm-hearted and gave us useful tips. We loved Dubrovnik and we are gonna visit again and stay in this place for sure 😊
What could be improved: We had the attic apartment. I would love it to be a little bit bigger.Hannah from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (10/10)
This accommodation was around a 15-20 minute walk into old town. The host is incredibly helpful and informative. We had a big car and informed them of this and they were able to make arrangements. This accommodation is also a 26 min drive from the airport. There is a bakery and small shop nearby. The host will ask for your passport details to register with the tourism office

We loved the modern apartment. It was tastefully decorated. We liked the kind, friendly owner. We enjoyed the 20 minute walk into the city, although bear in mind the return walk is a climb with steps.
What could be improved: We can't think of anything we didn't like. The whole experience was very enjoyable.Donatas from Lithuania – 19 September 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is super cute, very comfortable, clean and the view is beautiful. Zed the owner is always there and ready to do anything to help.
I would definitely go back.
The location for us was good. It was 25 min walk to the old city but we liked the exercise.
What could be improved: We liked everything.
