You know what caught me off guard about Downtown Oasis? The name actually makes sense – and I mean that in the best way possible. Walking down Hrvatskog Crvenog Kriza (locals just call it Red Cross Street, trust me on this one), you’re basically in the thick of Dubrovnik’s modern hustle, but step into this hotel and there’s this immediate sense of calm that honestly surprised me. The lobby has this understated elegance thing going on – not trying too hard, but you can tell someone put real thought into the lighting and those comfortable seating areas where you actually want to linger.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re trying to balance the whole “see the Old Town” thing with having access to real life. You’re about a 10-minute walk to Pile Gate – the main entrance to the historic center – but you’re also right where the locals actually live and work. There’s a fantastic little bakery two blocks down that opens ridiculously early (like 6 AM), and the Konzum grocery store is practically next door if you need snacks or want to grab some of that Croatian wine to take home. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being in the city center – the building seems well-insulated, and the street doesn’t get the late-night foot traffic that some areas do. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too; no long waits or complicated procedures, just efficient and friendly staff who actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give decent restaurant recommendations.

The rooms themselves feel modern without being sterile – I mean, you’re not going to find ornate historical details here, but everything works properly and the beds are legitimately comfortable. The bathrooms are well-designed with good water pressure (which matters more than you think when you’ve been walking Dubrovnik’s stone streets all day), and there’s enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night or two. Air conditioning worked perfectly, which you’ll definitely appreciate if you’re visiting during summer months when Dubrovnik gets properly hot. The 9.5 rating isn’t just marketing fluff – it’s that rare combination of a place that doesn’t overpromise but delivers consistently on the basics. If you’re looking for a hotel that lets you experience Dubrovnik like someone who actually lives there rather than just passing through, Downtown Oasis manages to hit that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity without the tourist-trap pricing of places closer to the walls.

  Great location, clean and convenient. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable.The host was very quick to reply to queries. You have everything you need nearby and a 25 mini walk to Old town or to Lapud beach area. Highly recommended.

  The host is super helpful. She contacted me before the trip to ask if transportation arrangement from the airport is needed. She gave clear instructions on how to arrive the department, the location is perfect and easy to locate.

  Amazing, fully equipped apartment, with a great design and lots of space. The location was brilliant as well; bus stops in front of the hotel, and in 10 mins you are in Old Town. Having a parking place is amazing as well. Finally, commutation with the host was great, very friendly and helpful. we would very much recommend this place!!
