Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Dubrovnik, and honestly? This apartment on Masarykov put totally surprised me. I mean, Lapad isn’t exactly where most tourists end up – it’s actually where locals live, which is sort of the whole point. You’re about a 15-minute bus ride from the Old Town madness, but that’s exactly what makes it work.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish Croatian grandmother got a serious design upgrade. Everything’s been renovated with this perfect balance of keeping the original character while adding all the stuff you actually need (decent WiFi, a kitchen that doesn’t make you want to cry, proper air conditioning). The owner clearly knows what travelers want – there’s this great little balcony where you can have morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up, and honestly, after dealing with cruise ship crowds all day, coming back to this quiet residential street feels like finding a secret. The building’s got that solid Yugoslav-era construction, so you don’t hear every footstep from upstairs, which… trust me, matters more than you think.

What really gets me is the location – you’re walking distance to actual Croatian life. There’s this little konoba around the corner that doesn’t have an English menu, and a market where old ladies sell vegetables from their gardens. The bus stop is literally two minutes away, and the 6 line takes you straight to Pile Gate without any transfers. Plus, you know what? When you want to escape the tourist bubble, you can walk down to the Lapad peninsula and find these rocky swimming spots that locals use. During summer evenings, families gather there with their kids, and it’s this whole different side of Dubrovnik that most visitors never see. The apartment owner actually left this hand-drawn map showing the best swimming spots – that kind of personal touch that makes you feel like you’re staying with a friend rather than just renting a room. Sure, it’s not going to have a fancy lobby or room service, but you get something better: you get to live in Dubrovnik instead of just visiting it.

  Everything was perfect, we had a lovely time in Lapad. The apartment has everything you need and is located at the beach. There is a small grocery store in the building and a great Korean restaurant as well. The bus stop is also just outside, and a direct bus takes you to the Old Town.
  We were able to check in early and also check out very late, which was great since traveling with children.

  Beautiful appartement, with two large balconies, nicely located. Easy to go to the old town with the bus. Supermarket within the building. Host was very nice and accommodating. She helped us booked a tour which we enjoyed very much. I recommend it!

  Near beach and lovely walks, grocery store next door. Best host in the world Goga! She drove our baby pram to get pumped at garage after we had a flat tire – going above and beyond 🙂
