Pearl of Adriatic Overview

You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Dubrovnik over the years, and the Pearl of Adriatic honestly caught me off guard. It’s tucked away on Lazarina ulica in Ploče – which, if you’re not familiar with the area, is this quieter residential stretch that locals actually live in, not just where tourists stumble around with their phones out. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to the Old Town walls in about fifteen minutes, but at night you hear actual crickets instead of drunk bachelor parties echoing off ancient stone.

The thing that struck me first was how the staff actually seemed to know what they were doing. Check-in was smooth – no fumbling around with keycards or that awkward “let me find someone who speaks English” dance. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels authentic rather than trying too hard, if that makes sense. Dark wood, cream stone, nothing flashy but everything just… right. The rooms are genuinely spacious too, which is rare around here where most places cram you into spaces that feel like converted medieval storage closets. Mine had this little balcony that looked out toward the harbor – not a full sea view, but you could catch glimpses of the water between the cypress trees, especially in the morning light.

What really sold me was the breakfast situation. They do this spread with local cheeses and olives that actually taste like something, proper Croatian pastries (not those sad international hotel croissants), and coffee that doesn’t make you wince. The dining area opens onto a terrace where you can sit under these big umbrellas and plan your day without feeling rushed. I’d usually grab a second cup and just watch the neighborhood wake up – old ladies hanging laundry, kids heading to school, that sort of authentic daily life you miss when you’re staying right in the tourist zone. The pool area is surprisingly peaceful too, though it gets busy around mid-afternoon when people come back from sightseeing. Pro tip: early evening is perfect for a swim when the light hits just right and most guests are getting ready for dinner.

Honestly, the 9.8 rating makes sense once you’ve been there. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works exactly as it should. The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter, the Wi-Fi actually reaches your room, and – this is huge in Dubrovnik – parking is included and you don’t have to navigate some nightmare underground garage. The location gives you that sweet spot of being close enough to everything but far enough away to actually relax. Plus, there’s this little konoba about two blocks down Lazarina where locals eat – the kind of place you’d never find unless you were staying in the neighborhood. The Pearl of Adriatic isn’t trying to be the fanciest hotel in Croatia, but it nails being the kind of place where you sleep well, eat well, and leave feeling like you actually experienced Dubrovnik rather than just photographed it.

Reviews of Pearl of Adriatic

  • Jaclyn from United States – 18 May 2025 (10/10)

This property was amazing, convenient, clean and had the best view I've ever had. There's not a single thing I would change. We had a wonderful time here!!! There are many steps to this property going from the street but that was not an issue at all. In fact, it was part of the allure.

  • Gary from Australia – 17 May 2025 (10/10)

Excellent communication, kitchen utensils and ample supplies such as dishwasher detergent etc.
We had apartment 1 and the view was stunning. I was so pleased we made this booking.

  • Rebecca from United Kingdom – 16 May 2025 (10/10)

Impeccably clean, well equipped, with super views. Location was fantastic—so close to Old Town and all the amenities you could want. I made the booking on behalf of my father and both myself and him really appreciated the excellent communication from Josip. He was happy to answer any questions and did so promptly and always with a friendly manner. Very impressed with the accommodation itself and especially with the host!
    Definitely recommend to anyone.

  • Kristie from Canada – 8 May 2025 (10/10)

Amazing view, walking distance to old town and beach, quiet, clean, responsive host who allowed late check out and gave us a bottle of local wine!

What could be improved: Liked it all

  • Lesley from Israel – 30 April 2025 (9/10)

    Well maintained. Comfortable. Exceptional view.

What could be improved: Not so easy to navigate the stairs to the property especially with luggage.

  • Naji from Germany – 27 April 2025 (10/10)

We liked the apartment a lot. The view of the old town is breathtaking. It is very well occupied with everything you need for your stay. Very comfortable and safe for the kids.

The location is great. About 8 min walk from the old town. There is also a market nearby.

Josip was really a great host. He was reachable and quickly responding 24/7. Very kind and helpful. We definitely will come back to this place next time we come to Dubrovnik!

  • Neha from Netherlands – 21 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was beyond perfection! The apartment was immaculate—spotlessly clean and thoughtfully arranged with every basic necessity you could think of, and even a few extras that made it feel better than home. From fresh towels and toiletries to a well-equipped kitchen, everything was taken care of. The host went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They not only provided milk for us upon arrival, but also guided us personally to the apartment, making sure we didn’t face any trouble finding the place. Their kindness, hospitality, and attention to detail truly stood out. It’s rare to find such a perfect combination of comfort, cleanliness, and genuine care. We would absolutely love to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a flawless stay!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Roslyn from Australia – 18 April 2025 (10/10)

View was amazing, clean, neat, well positioned and excellent host

  • Tez from United Kingdom – 17 April 2025 (10/10)

The appartment has quality fittings and furniture throughout and has an exceptional range of utensils etc. Quite simply there is nothing not to like.
Josip was very responsive to any queries and was very prompt in fixing a relatively minor problem were encountered.

What could be improved: Anyone visiting Dubrovnik will know that it is very hilly and there are unavoidable sets of steps. Joisp can do nothing about that and does point out that access to the appartment is via a good number of steps.

  • Wang from United Kingdom – 17 April 2025 (9/10)

Location is good, you could easily by walk to old town within 10mins to explore the famous old town and also lots of choices of restaurants /bars, a nice beach just nearby and you could also enjoy your own dinner by cooking at the apartment since several convenient markets are just there. The facility of the residence is excellent and you can find everything you need. It’s fantastic to have a dinner in the b balcony with the dreamlike view and the breeze of the sea
