Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “SPACIOUS THREE BEDROOM APARTMENT” as the name, I rolled my eyes a little. It sounds like something your landlord would post on Craigslist, you know? But actually staying at this place on Ulica Viška changed my mind pretty quickly. The apartment really is spacious, which in Dubrovnik terms means you’re not constantly bumping into your travel companions every time someone opens a suitcase. The three bedrooms are laid out smartly too – the master gets decent morning light, while the other two stay cooler if you’re visiting during those brutal July afternoons when the old town feels like a pizza oven.
What I really appreciated was the location situation. Ulica Viška isn’t right in the tourist madness, but you’re still close enough that you can walk to Pile Gate in maybe fifteen minutes without breaking a sweat. Well, maybe a little sweat – it’s Dubrovnik in summer, after all. The street itself is pretty quiet, which honestly surprised me given how close you are to everything. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional late-night group stumbling back from the old town, but it’s not like staying right on Stradun where the noise never really stops. There’s a decent little bakery just down the street that opens early (locals start lining up around 7 AM), and the woman who runs it actually remembers your order after a couple days, which is sweet.
The apartment itself has that slightly worn-in feel that I actually prefer over those sterile hotel rooms. The kitchen is properly equipped – I’m talking real knives, not those useless butter knives most places give you – and there’s enough counter space to actually prepare meals if you want to save some money. The Wi-Fi works well enough for video calls, though it can get a bit spotty during peak hours when everyone’s uploading their sunset photos. One thing to note: the building is older, so you’ll hear footsteps from upstairs sometimes, but it’s not terrible. The shower has good pressure, which after a day of climbing those stone steps in the old town, you’ll definitely appreciate. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – there’s street parking nearby, but you might end up walking a few blocks with your luggage. Pro tip: if you’re arriving in summer, try to get there before 4 PM when the day-trippers start heading back to their cruise ships and free up some spots.
