Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, and Tezoro honestly surprised me. It’s tucked away on Ilije Sarake – which, if you don’t know the area, is this narrow little street that most tourists walk right past on their way to the main drag. That’s actually perfect because you’re literally two minutes from all the action, but you won’t have crowds of cruise ship passengers flowing past your window at 7 AM.

The building itself has that weathered stone look that screams “I’ve been here since before your great-grandfather was born,” but inside they’ve done this smart renovation that keeps the character without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. The rooms are… well, they’re not huge – this is medieval Old Town, so if you’re expecting a sprawling suite, maybe adjust those expectations. But honestly, who spends time in their room when you’re in Dubrovnik? What I loved was how quiet it gets at night. You know how some places in the Old Town you can hear every conversation from the restaurants below until 2 AM? Not here. The thick walls actually work in your favor.

The staff – and I mean this – actually seem to give a damn. The guy at reception (I think his name was Marko?) knew exactly which bakery opens earliest if you want fresh burek before the morning crowds hit, and he steered me away from the tourist-trap restaurant right around the corner toward this little place locals actually eat at. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you can’t get from a booking site. The 8.7 rating makes sense once you realize what you’re getting – it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in town, but it nails the basics while putting you right in the heart of everything. Check-in was smooth (they held my bags for hours before my room was ready without any fuss), and they’ve got this small courtyard area that’s perfect for morning coffee when you want to ease into the day. I mean, parking is basically impossible anywhere in Old Town, so don’t even think about driving here – but that’s Dubrovnik for you, not the hotel’s fault. If I’m being completely honest, the shower pressure could be better, but the hot water was reliable and the bed was comfortable enough that I actually slept well despite all the walking you inevitably do here. For a three-star place that gets you this close to Stradun without the premium location markup, Tezoro delivers exactly what it promises.
