It’s tucked away on Frana Supila street in Ploče, which honestly is one of those addresses that sounds fancy but you’ll probably need GPS to find it the first time. But here’s the thing – once you get there, you realize this slightly hidden location is actually perfect. You’re far enough from the tourist madness of the Old Town to get real sleep, but close enough that you can walk to Dubrovnik’s walls in about 15 minutes (maybe 20 if you’re dragging luggage).
The place feels more like staying at a well-connected friend’s house than a typical hotel. I mean, with a 9.8 rating, I was expecting something special, but Villa King surprised me in smaller ways. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood – they’ll tell you which bakery opens earliest for fresh burek, or that the little market around the corner stocks decent wine for half what you’d pay near Stradun. The rooms have this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake; everything’s spotless and thoughtfully arranged, but it doesn’t feel sterile. You’ll notice details like proper hangers (not those flimsy hotel ones), blackout curtains that actually work, and – this matters more than you’d think – really good water pressure in the shower.
What really won me over was how the place operates day to day. Check-in was smooth, no hovering or rushing, and they actually listened when I mentioned I’m a light sleeper (got moved to a quieter room facing the courtyard). The breakfast spread isn’t huge, but everything’s fresh and local – proper Croatian cheese, homemade jam, coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since dawn. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of Dubrovnik, but they’ve got it sorted with a small lot that feels secure. During summer peak season, you’ll want to book that parking spot in advance, trust me. The neighborhood itself gets lively in the evenings – not rowdy, just that pleasant hum of locals finishing dinner and kids playing in the small park nearby. It’s the kind of authentic Croatian atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Dubrovnik, not just the postcard version. For a 4-star place, Villa King punches well above its weight, and honestly, that 9.8 rating makes sense once you’ve spent a few days there.

Everything was perfect. Location, all the amenities, the cleanliness, and the hosts. Could not have asked for more. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Dubrovnik.

Super comfortable for a few days. Outside space was excellent and private. Beds are comfortable and the place was super clean.

The location was convenient - 15 minutes walk from Old town (or a 5 minute Bolt ride, which was quite easy to get). It was quite exquisite - the view was excellent, looking out on the Adriatic, and the layout was beautiful - a main bed room for us, and a pull out comfy couch for the kids, and a nice little breakfast table. We cooked breakfast, and the utensils were adequate to do that. There was a nice hot tub in the porch area outside to chill at. The host Gaspare was very helpful. Overall, we loved our stay and highly recommend it.

The sitting area outside was lovely with a great view. The apartment was very spacious and luxurious. Only a 10 minute walk to the center. We really enjoyed our stay!

The communication with the host was excellent, from start to finish.
The room itself was modern, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I also loved the location, which was just a short walk into the old town 😊. Highly recommend!
Beautiful place.attention to detail amazing..close to old town 20 min walk but need to be reasonably fit to walk back up little hill, fabulous views! We will come back I hope 🙏 ❤️

A beautiful apartment in a great peaceful location, just 20 minutes walk from the OldTown. Views across to Lokrum Island from the apartment , and to the Old Town from our private patio. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful.
