You’re still close enough to walk to the Old Town (maybe 15-20 minutes if you don’t mind the hills), but you’re completely removed from the cruise ship chaos that hits the main areas during peak season.
The villa itself feels more like staying at a really well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel. The owners clearly put thought into the details β there’s this gorgeous stone terrace where you can actually hear the birds in the morning instead of tour groups shuffling past. And honestly, the smart car thing isn’t just a gimmick. Dubrovnik’s parking situation is absolutely brutal, especially near the walls, so having a compact car that fits into those impossibly narrow Croatian parking spots is genius. I watched other travelers circling for 30 minutes looking for parking while I zipped right into spaces that bigger cars couldn’t even attempt.
What really sold me though was how the place feels authentically Croatian without trying too hard. Sure, it’s not right in the medieval center, but after dealing with the summer crowds there during the day, coming back to this peaceful corner of the city felt like such a relief. The whole experience just felt more… real, I guess? Like you’re actually staying in Dubrovnik rather than just visiting it.
