That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The owner, Dora (yeah, actually named after the place), met me at the door with this genuine warmth that immediately made me feel like I was staying with a local friend rather than just another booking number.
The apartment itself is honestly better than most hotels I’ve stayed in around Dubrovnik – and I mean that. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to hit the morning market near Gruž port (about a 10-minute walk) and make your own breakfast instead of paying tourist prices. The bathroom’s modern, the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places in the Old Town, and here’s the thing nobody mentions in most reviews – the windows face away from the main road, so you’re not dealing with that constant hum of tour buses that can drive you crazy elsewhere in the city. I slept better here than I did at that fancy place near Pile Gate last year, honestly. The décor is sort of modern-meets-traditional Croatian – not Instagram-perfect, but comfortable and real. There’s this little balcony where you can actually sit with morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up, which beats staring at another hotel’s concrete wall.
What really sold me on this place was the location, though I know it doesn’t sound glamorous at first. You’re about a 15-minute walk to the Old Town walls – close enough that you don’t need taxis, far enough that you escape the cruise ship crowds when you want to. There’s a small grocery store literally around the corner (the kind where the owner knows everyone’s name), and honestly, being in a real neighborhood instead of tourist central made the whole Dubrovnik experience feel more authentic. Dora gave me these casual recommendations – like which bakery has the best burek, when to avoid Stradun street – that you just don’t get from hotel concierges reading from scripts. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me; it’s not luxury, but it’s genuine and comfortable, with those little touches that show someone actually cares about your stay. If you’re the type who wants to experience Dubrovnik like a temporary local rather than just tick off the Game of Thrones filming locations, this is your spot.

Very good Location was great and the amenities were just what we needed for the week.
What could be improved: The only drawback was the large knife in the kitchen needs sharpened as it was really blunt and didn't cut anything!
Good stay at Dubrovnik Room was good with all the facilities available as mentioned in the Ad. Location was also good , buststand just 50meter away and you can reach Old town within 15-20minuetes by bus. We have really enjoyed the stay. Host has provided the transport(cost 30 euro only) from Airport to apartment which was really helpful.
Clean apartement with responsive host. Apartement had all the listed amenities, host was very responsive and checkin went smoothly. Apartement was very clean. There is a bus stop 200 m from the apartement.
Great place, good value, friendly Great location, Jossip was very friendly. Great to have a washing machine. Lots of restaurants near by. Close to bus stop. Excellent value.
What could be improved: Shower was always cold, AC had its own mind.

What could be improved: The confirmation states that you can only check in at 17:00 which I objected to. After standard confirmation emails sent to us confirming this (and I was annoyed about it) they let us in around 2pm. Need a key to enter and owner was at the apartment to let us in when we arrived.
Good choice, no regrets The neighborhood was better than expected, close to the bus station and the port, good restaurants around. It is clean, calm, there was a kettle 😍, clean towels... perfect for our 2 night stay. They have a balcony where you can watch the sunset.
What could be improved: The phone indicated in the Booking description of Dora's apartment is not the one that would be calling you for meeting for the keys. Anyway, they did answer to Booking chat and the host was super kind, so everything went fine.
If you need a spacious toilet (or you are close to 2m tall) it might not be the apartment for you.
We had a great stay! Very friendly and service minded hosts. Good location. Small, but smart apartment with all you need. Plus for spacious closet.
Nice place for a stay in Dubrovnik Very friendly owners, offered help and gave us good advice. Some sockets weren't working and needed fixing, so they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: Apartment is quite small, which was not a big problem, though. Some small things could be improved or fixed, bathroom door handle fell off multiple times
