You know what struck me first about Villa Duchess? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street called Lozica, and honestly, most tourists would walk right past it without a second glance. But that’s exactly what makes it special – you’re maybe a seven-minute walk from all the Old Town chaos, yet when you step inside, it feels like you’ve found this hidden gem that somehow escaped the tourist machine. The building itself has that understated Croatian elegance thing going on, not flashy or trying too hard, just solid and welcoming in a way that makes you immediately relax.

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully done – someone clearly spent time thinking about what actual travelers need rather than just throwing together generic hotel furniture. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space to actually unpack without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your luggage. What really got me was the attention to small details… good lighting for reading, outlets where you actually need them, and – this sounds silly but it matters – shower pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. The staff genuinely seem to care about making your stay work, not just checking boxes on some corporate hospitality manual. They’ll actually tell you which restaurants are worth your time versus the tourist traps, and I mean the real insider stuff.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Dubrovnik – you get the best of both worlds. Sure, you’re close enough to wander into the Old Town whenever the mood strikes, but you’re also in a neighborhood where actual people live and work. There’s something nice about grabbing coffee in the morning from a place where the barista recognizes locals, you know? The 8.8 rating honestly feels about right – it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but it nails what it’s going for. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel more connected to the actual city rather than just the postcard version of it.

  Very attentive friendly hosts, Ismail and Emin oversaw our stay and transfers from airport as well as trips to historic Mostar, beautiful Kravice Falls, picturesque Blagaj Monastery and more. Villa Duchess is simply stunning, each room is beautiful, stylish and spotless, and contained everything we needed and more. The view is breathtaking, the terrace, outdoor BBQ and private beach are outstanding. We loved the view of the bay and ships and Franjo Tudman Bridge we would not have traded this for a stay in the Dubrovnik town, which is a short drive/taxi ride away. Thank you very much team Villa Duchess.

  I like the location. You sit out on the balcony and watch the river and the cruise ships come and go. Also can walk down to the river for a swim or rent a jet ski or boat.

  Fantastic location with spectacular views. Excellent property, with everything one might need. Our host, Ismail, was very good, spoke perfect English, and couldn’t do enough for us .. highly recommend a vist.
